The Haryana
Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has announced to institute a new
award known as ‘Jagannath Pahadia Nau Aamoz Urdu Sahitya
Award’ to encourage the new Urdu learners in the State. The award will carry Rs
21,000 in cash and would be conferred upon those new Urdu learners who would be
able to take themselves upto the level of recognition through their creativity
in three years.
This announcement was made on behalf of the Chief Minister by Additional
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Executive Vice Chairman of Haryana
Urdu Academy, Dr. K.K. Khandelwal in the ‘Sahityakar Samman Samaroh’ organized
by the Academy at Haryana Raj Bhawan here today.
On
this occasion, Haryana Governor Mr. Jagannath Pahadia honoured 19 litterateurs
for their outstanding contribution to further enrich Urdu language and
literature in the State. He also honoured eight writers of Urdu on completion
of 75 years of their age and for doing commendable work in the promotion of
Urdu language.
While congratulating the awardees, Mr. Pahadia said that these litterateurs
were not only working for the promotion of Urdu language but are also dedicated
in serving the society. He urged the litterateurs to effectively use their
writing to make the people conscious of various social evils. He
said that problems like female foeticide, crime against women and children were
a major problem for the country and society . The society has a many expectations
from litterateurs to guide them and also to explore ways and means to
combat these problems, he added.
He said that poets, writers and other litterateurs being a mirror to the society, not only exhibit the real picture of the society, but also plays a vital role in the uplift and building of the nation. Their creations should be such which would promote communal harmony and brotherhood so as to strengthen the unity and integrity of the country.

He
said that since the ancient times, litterateurs, writers, poets, artists
and other intellectuals have been efficiently discharging their
responsibilities towards making the society civilized and cultured. The writers
and artists of Haryana too have contributed significantly in this direction and
Urdu litterateurs namely Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Kwaja Ahmad Abbas were
among the prominent litterateurs. He said that the famous Urdu poet Hali was
born in Panipat and the name of Sadulla who was born in village Akeda of
Gurgaon become immortal for his creation of Mahabharta in Mewati language.
Mr. Pahadia hailed the functioning of Urdu Academy and said that it was playing
a commendable role for promotion of Urdu in the State. He said that
the Academy has also started a programme to teach Urdu language which is an
appreciative step as it would not only increase the number of Urdu learners,
but would also help in preserving the old literature.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Information, Public Relations
and Cultural Affairs Pt. Shiv Charan Lal Sharma, who is also the Senior Vice
Chairman of Urdu Academy, said that Haryana is the motherland of Urdu language
and under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, various
programmes have been launched for the promotion and dissemination of Urdu
language. Apart from this various Centers were also being run through the
Academy where Urdu language was being taught. The Minister urged
the parents to teach Urdu language to their children as they were the
future of the country. He appreciated the initiative of the Urdu Academy to
honour the Urdu litterateurs and said that such programmes should be organized
from time to time so as to enlighten the society.
Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Executive Vice Chairman of
Urdu Academy Dr. K.K. Khanelwal described Urdu as a colloquial language and
said that Urdu had originated from Haryana. He said that the new award namely
Jagannath Pahadia Nau Aamouj Urdu Sahitya Award’ as announced by the Chief
Minister would further help in the promotion of Urdu language in the State.
Director, Haryana Urdu Academy Dr. Des Raj
Sapra highlighted the achievements of the Academy. He said that the Academy has
made a lot of progress under the guidance of Chief Minister Mr. Hooda. The
Academy has set an example by introducing teaching Urdu through
correspondence. He said that in the year 2011-12, as many as 900 persons
were enrolled in the course whereas this year 1100 persons had registered
their names.
On this occasion Mr. Pahadia released a
book entitled as ‘ Hali Sehnasi’ written on the life of famous Poet Hali
Panipati . He also released a book entitled as Kaifiaazmi Fun aur Shakshiyat
, a brochure of Urdu Academy having details of the awardees and its
latest issue entitled as ‘Jamuna Tat’. Mr. Pahadia also released story books
entitled as ‘Gharounde Ret Ke’ and ‘Phool aur Kante’ written by Mr. Roop
Narayan Chandana. Apart from this he also released a book entitled as ‘ Mausom’
written by Dr. Ayab Khan.
Earlier, Mr. Pahadia honoured 19
litterateurs for their outstanding contribution to further enrich Urdu language
and literature in the State. Fakhre Haryana Award carrying Rs. 1.5 lakh in cash
was conferred upon Dr. Naresh and Mr. Kashmiri Lal Zakir whereas, Hali
Award with a cash prize of Rs. 1.21 lakh was given away to Dr.
Shakeel-ur-Rehman. Kanwar Mohinder Singh Bedi Socio- Culture Achievement
Award of Rs. 25,000 was given away to Dr. Kumar Panipati. Similarly, Sabir Dutt
Award for social uplift of women carrying cash prize of Rs. 25,000 was
conferred upon Dr. Ronaq Zaidi, Sayed Muzaffar Husain Burney Award for Urdu
Poetry and Khawaja Ahmed Abbas Award for Urdu Prose carrying cash prize of Rs.
25,000 each was given away to Dr K.K. Rishi and Dr. Qamar-ud-Din Zakir
respectively. He said that Munshi Gumani Lal Award for Urdu Fiction and
Surinder Pandit Soz Award for promotion of Urdu in Ambala or its surrounding
areas, carrying cash prize of Rs. 21,000 each were conferred upon Dr. Nazima
Jabeen and Mr. Maikash Ambalvi.
Urdu
Journalism Awards carrying cash prize of Rs. 21,000 each was given away to Mr.
Narain Das Khusdil and Dr. Sultan Anjum whereas, Urdu Translation Award
carrying Rs. 21,000 in cash was given away to Dr. Rajwanit Maan. Jafat
Zattali Award, the Award for the contribution in Persian Literature and Ghazal
Singing Award carrying cash prize of Rs. 21,000 each was conferred upon Mr. T.N
Raz, Prof. Chander Shekhar and Mr. Vinod Sehgal respectively. The Theater Award,
the award for outsider writers who are doing work in Urdu related
to Haryana and award for the promotion of scientific temper in Urdu Literature
carrying cash prize of Rs. 21,000 each was given away to Mr. Parveen Sethi,
Prof. S.R. Kidwai and Dr. Anis-ul-Hasan Siddiqui.
Special
Award for contribution in Urdu Literature carrying Rs. 51,000 was conferred
upon Mr. Amar Sahni.
Among the scholars writer, critics and poets in Urdu who are more than 75 years
of age, namely Mr. Himmat Singh, Mr. Om Parkash Panwar, Mr. Roop Narain
Chandna, Mr. Amar Nath Wadhera, Dr. Deepak Tandon, Mr. T.R Joshi , Mr. Om
Parkash Ulfat and Mr. Gopal Dass Ambalvi were honoured with a cash prize of Rs.
2100 each.
Director
General, Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department Mr.
Sudhir Rajpal and Directors of all Academes of the State and other promiment
personalities were also present on this occasion.
