Haryana Election Department and Ch Devi Lal
University, Sirsa today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to include
the names of all students above 18 years of age in voter lists and
those who do not have voter identity cards would fill
up Form 6 for the same.
The
MoU was signed by Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Shrikant Walgad on
behalf of the Election Department and Vice Chancellor Dr. M.L. Ranga
singed on behalf of the University.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Walgad said that it is mandatory to issue
voter identity card to every eligible person so that they could perform their
role in the democracy. He said that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) store
would be set up in all districts of Haryana for their safety and maintenance.
It is mandatory to have 63 per cent people registered in electoral rolls on
population basis. In electrical rolls of district Sirsa, 61.2 per cent voters
were registered. The percentage of electoral rolls in Sirsa is high as compared
to other districts, he added.
Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ranga appealed to all Head of Departments and Professors
of the University to ensure that students furnish Form No. 6
and voter cards are issued to all of them. He assured that name of
all students studying in colleges affiliated to the University would be
included in electoral roll.
