In
Haryana, more than 13.06 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has so far
arrived in the various mandis during the current procurement season as compared
to arrival of over 8.85 lakh metric tonnes in the corresponding period
last year.
While
stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said
the district Karnal is leading in the paddy arrival where 4, 06,059
metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, followed by
Kurukshetra with 3,97,238 metric tonnes. District Kaithal ranks third in the paddy arrival
where 2, 15,773 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis,
whereas in district Ambala 1, 43,469 metric tonnes
of paddy has arrived. Similarly, in Fatehabad 42,407 metric tonnes
of paddy has arrived in the mandis, in Yamunanagar 41,293 metric
tonnes, in Panchkula 29,741 metric tonnes, in Jind 10,134 metric tonnes, in
Sirsa 9, 562 metric tonnes, in Panipat 5,833 metric tonnes, in Sonipat 2311
metric tonnes and in Palwal 2254 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in
the mandis.
He
said that out of the total arrival of paddy, 59,399 metric tonnes of
paddy has been purchased by the millers. Among the Government agencies,
Food and Supplies Department has purchased 5,84,418 metric tonnes
of paddy, HAFED 3,25,936 metric tonnes, Agro Industries Corporation
1,94,322 metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 96,613 metric tonnes
and CONFED had purchased 45,560 metric tonnes of paddy, he
added.
