Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister,
Dr. K. K. Khandelwal today urged the teachers, “be the change, you want to
see’.
Dr Khandelwal was speaking
at one-day training workshop on gender sensitivity and value education for
teachers organized by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
He emphasized the need for a positive change in the society and appreciated the
initiative taken by the CBSE on this issue.
Dr. Sadhana Parashar,
Director CBSE (Academic Research and Training and Innovation said, “the rigid
thought process, boys don’t cry and girls play with dolls, needs a
change”. A change that will bring the dawn of a new era, because it is
the social environment that makes a person, she added.The idea was further
emphasized by Dr. R. J. Khanderao, Regional Director, CBSE Panchkula, as he
said, ‘kill the evil within as Ravana is a mere symbol’. He
stressed the need to rise above the gender complexes and urged the people to
come together to work as a whole. The CBSE aims to equip the teachers with
information and tools required for promoting gender equality, equity and values
education.
Earlier, Principal, Mrs. Jaya Bhardwaj extended a warm welcome to all
delegates and laid emphasis on Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “You must not lose faith
in humanity. It is an ocean, if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, a
ocean does not become dirty”, She said this workshop is an attempt to
purify the society, to breathe and live in an environment which respects all
that constitute it.
The workshop was attended
by a large number of principals and teachers from tricity that is
Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali and nearby areas.
