Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today conferred five senior citizens
awards on the occasion of International Senior Citizens’ Day.
The
awardees were honoured with cash prize of Rs one lakh each, citations, shawls
and turbans. Those who have been honoured in the state level function
organized at Karnal included 103 years old Mr. Uday Singh, a resident of
village Lohankalan district Jhajjar with Ch. Ranbir Singh, Centenarian award,
Mrs. Mishro Devi, a resident of village Roliawas, district Rewari with
Mother Teresa Award, Mr. Sumer Chand, a resident of Industrial Area,
Sonipat with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Courage and Bravery Award, Mr. Lal Chand
Godara, a resident of village Nuhianwali, district Sirsa Mahatama Jyotiba Phule
Life Time Achievement Award and Nirmal Gram Panchayat of village Devlawas,
district Rewari with Mahatama Gandhi Best Panchayat Award.
The Chief
Minister also honoured Gram Panchayat Khaid of Ateli Block of district Narnaul
and Gram Panchayat Loharijattu of Bhiwanikhera block of district Bhiwani with
Mahatama Gandhi Panchayat Puruskar. About 900 senior citizens and freedom
fighters of district Karnal, Panipat and Kurukshetra were invited in this
programme.
Also, a special health camp was organized to administer free health
checkup of the elderly people. After this, Mr. Hooda laid the foundation stone
of a ROB to be constructed on Munuk Road, Ghoghripur, Phatak costing Rs. 31.73
crore. This 665 meter long ROB would be ready by July 2015.
