A sum of Rs. 8.22 crore
of incentive money was distributed to the owners of 10,985 Murrah buffaloes
with milk yield of 13 litres & above at the State Live Stock Show in
Jhajjar today, which was inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder
Singh Hooda.
Congratulating the farmers, who
received incentive money, Mr. Hooda said that it is due to their hardwork that Haryana
today is one of the leading states in milk producation. Per capita milk
availability per day in Haryana today is 747 grams as compared to 285 grams of
national average. Haryana is at second place after Punjab. We want
Haryana to become another Denmark.
Mr. Hooda said that his government has started a
number of schemes to increase milk production in the State. For the
development of live stock the budget of animal husbandary department has been
increased many times. Murrah buffaloe is a matter of pride for Haryana. It is
linked with the economic progress of the farmers. For increasing the breed of
murrah, the government has started a unique scheme besides giving incentives.
‘Katras’ of murrah are purchased from farmers at high price and brought up at
the Murrah Katra Farm in, Bhiwani and Hisar. When they grow up, they are given
to Panchyats at reasonble cost. They are supplied to other states also. There
is a lot of demand for murrah buffaloe from other states and abroad also. It is
a very costly cattle. Just a few months back, there was news that a murrah
buffaloe was purchased for Rs. 25 lakh.
Mr. Hooda said that during last 8 and a half
years, incentive money of over Rs. 53 crore has been given to the owners of
79,113 buffaloes. Incentive money is given for the milk yield of 13,16 ,19 and
25 litres of milk at the rate of Rs. 5000, Rs. 10000, Rs. 15000 and Rs. 25000
respectively. Mr. Hooda announced that from next year, the incentive money will
be increased to Rs. 10000, Rs. 15000, Rs. 20000 and Rs. 30000
respectively.
Mr. Hooda said that government has
established 2796 animal treatment and insemination centres in the State. For
modern treatment of cattle, polyclinics have been set up at Punchkula, Bhiwani,
Rohtak, Sonipat and Sirsa. Policlinics are also been opened at Rewari and Jind.
Government has also started animal insurance scheme, under which 75 percent
premium is given by the government. In case the owners of the cattle are from
scheduled caste, complete premium is given by the government.
Mr. Hooda said that the land for
farming is reducing day by day. Therefore for increasing the income of farmers,
they should increase milk production. For employment of youth, the government
has started a scheme of mini dairies and hightech dairies. Youth should adopt
dairying as vocation.

Husbandary Minister Mr. Paramveer Singh said that government is taking all the
steps to increase milk production in the State and also for the protection of
live stock by arranging good treatment for them. Haryana today has become a
leading state of milch cattle.
Haryana Education Minister Mrs.
Geeta Bhukkal said that Haryana is progressing in all fields under the
leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Mr. Hooda is not
only farmer friendly, but also wants that the live stock of Haryana should be
free from diseases, so that Haryana becomes number one in milk production also.
Earlier Punjab was ahead of Haryana, but now Haryana has surpassed Punjab
in many fields. Haryana players have won medals and earned name for the State
and the country.
Principle Secretary of Animal Husbandary
Department Mr. Avtar Singh and Director Dr. Gajender Singh spoke about various
activities of department.
Earlier, Mr. Hooda dedicated four projects costing
Rupees 16 crore 1 lakh and 75 thousand to the people of Jhajjar. He inaugurated
the building of Mini Secretariat Part-2, Multi-level Parking and laid
foundation stone of Godown Storage of EVM, Vikas Sadan.
On this ocasion, former speaker and Beri MLA Dr.
Raghubir Singh Kadiyan, Badli MLA Mr.Naresh Sharma, Political Advisior to CM
Prof. Virender Singh, Chairperson of Haryana Cattle Development Board Santosh
Sharma and a number of other dignitaries were also present.
