In Haryana, about 29.49 lakh metric tonnes of
paddy has so far arrived in various mandis during the current procurement
season as compared to arrival of over 26.91 lakh metric tonnes of
paddy during the corresponding period last year.
While
stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said
the Government agencies have purchased 27.06 lakh metric tonnes of paddy
whereas 1.42 lakh tonnes of paddy were purchased by millers. He said that Food
and Supplies Department has purchased 12.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, HAFED
7.26 lakh metric tonnes, Agro Industries Corporation 4.28 lakh metric tonnes,
Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2.32 lakh metric tonnes, CONFED 1.10 lakh
metric tonnes and Food Corporation of India had purchased 4408 metric tonnes of
paddy, he added.
He
said that district Kurukshetra is leading in the paddy arrival where 7.46 lakh
metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, followed by Karnal with 7.07
lakh metric tonnes. District Kaithal ranks third in the paddy arrival where
3.61 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, in district
Fatehbad 3.55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived. Similarly, in Ambala
3.41 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, in Yamunanagar 1.52
lakh metric tonnes, in Jind 66,886 metric tonnes, in Sirsa 57,388 metric
tonnes, in Panchkula 53,432 metric tonnes, in Panipat 31,242 metric tonnes and
in Sonipat 20,108 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis.
