The Election
Commissioner, Haryana, Mr Dharam Vir, today said that the
Commission has disqualified six candidates for three years who had contested
general elections of Municipal Council, Kaithal on December 19,2010, but
they neither submitted their election expenditure statement nor bothered
to file reply of the show cause notice issued to them. The results of elections
of Municipal Council, Kaithal were also declared the same day.
He said that as per the Haryana Municipal Election
Expenditure (Maintenance and Submission of Accounts) order, 2006, every
contesting candidate has to file his or her account of election expenses within
30 days after the declaration of election result.
These candidates are Mrs. Reena and Mrs Santosh
of Ward No 4, Mrs. Urmila and Mrs Saroj Bala of Ward No.15, Mr Sanjeev of
Ward No.27 and Mrs Sweety of Ward No.32 .
Mr Dharam Vir said that names of candidates elected in
recent elections to Municipal Corporations and Municipal Committees have been
notified under sub section (1) of Section 14 of Haryana Municipal Corporation
Act, 1994 and sub-section (2) of Section 24 of the Haryana Municipal Act, 1973
by the Commission.
He
said that polling for election to 144 wards of Municipal Corporations,
Ambala, Panchkula, Karnal, Panipat, Hisar, Rohtak, Yamuna Nagar and 28 Wards of
Municipal Committees, Kalanaur and Farukh Nagar was held on June 2,2013.
Mr
Dharam Vir said that a total of 1,686 candidates including 1,047 males
and 639 females had contested the elections of Municipal
Corporations.Also, 150 candidates including 94 males and 56 females had
contested the elections of the Committees.
As
many as 120 candidates had contested on BJP symbol, 140 on INLD symbol, four on
CPI(M) symbol and three on NCP symbol. The counting of votes of all
wards of the Municipal Corporations was held on June 4, 2013 and the
result was declared the same day. As many as 25 candidates of the
BJP, 16 candidates of INLD and 103 independent candidates have been declared as
elected in the elections.
