Bhutan shows keen to learn from Haryana's experience

Bhutan has evinced keen interest in cooperation with Haryana in the areas of agriculture, livestock technology  and other sectors of mutual interest.
          This was revealed in a meeting of the 10-member delegation from  Bhutan led by Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Dasho Sonam Tshering held with senior officers of the State Government here today. The   delegation is on a 3-day visit to Haryana to discuss issues of mutual interest.
          Mr. Dasho Sonam Tshering said that Haryana is a progressive State in various fields and they wanted to learn from Haryana’s experience and also get some technology transferred to Bhutan. Apart from this, he said that they were looking at the possibilities of whether the  businessmen of Haryana  could invest in Bhutan as per the investment policy of Bhutan.
          The Secretary said that the primary objective of the visit is to identify the key areas where Bhutan and Haryana could cooperate together. “We are looking at the possibilities together” asserted Mr. Dasho. He said that officials from Haryana have been to Bhutan twice in the months of July and November and now a 10-member delegation from Bhutan is in Haryana.
          Mr. Dasho said that he had a series of meeting with the senior officers of Haryana Government and they looked at the need for exchange of technical delegation. He said that both Bhutan and Haryana could cooperate in the key areas like seed development and technology and to materialize this, they would also soon invite technical team from Haryana to visit Bhutan.
          Later, while interacting with the media persons, Haryana Principal Secretary, Agriculture Mr. Roshan Lal said that Haryana could co-operate Bhutan in the field of seed development, protection center for vegetables, agriculture education and research, marketing, horticulture, infrastructure and capacity building. He said that Bhutan could also send its students to Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar for education and research in the field of agriculture, he added.
The other members of Bhutan’s  delegation included Director General, Department of Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture and Forest Mr. Karma Drukpa, Director General, Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Forest , Mr. Tenzin Dhendup, Director, Department of Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, Director, Department of Human Settlement, Ministry of Works and Human Settlement Mr. Kinzang Norbu, Director, Department of Industry, Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Tandin Tshering, Chief of Bilateral Division, Asia Pacific Region, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Tenzin R. Wangchuk, General Manager, DFI Infra Mr. Karma Geley, Executive Engineer, Department of Hydro Power and Power System, Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Ngawang Choeda and Officiating Chief Planning Officer, Policy and Planning Division, Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Mindu Dorji.
