Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced Olympian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt as a Brand Ambassador of Health Department for the
promotion of its various schemes in the State. Yogeshwar Dutt
has offered his services voluntarily for this cause.
Mr Hooda also launched the
Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) programme of Health
Department by distributing folic acid tablets among children at a programme
organized here today. Mr. Hooda also launched pentavalent vaccine under
the State Immunization Programme as an ANM injected the vaccine to a child in
his presence. Haryana has become the first State to implement the Weekly Iron and Folic Acid
Supplementation programme and has become third in the country after Tamil
Nadu and Kerala to launch Pentavalent Vaccine.
While congratulating Yogeshwar Dutt on becoming the brand ambassador of the
Health Department, Mr. Hooda said that any state, society or area always got
inspired from one who has made his State or country proud. Yogeshwar Dutt
has made the country proud at international level with his scintillating
performance. Haryana Government too has always given due honour to the
sportspersons. Mr. Hooda said that Yogeshwar Dutt was an appropriate
choice for this task as he is role model for the youth and could
effectively disseminate various welfare schemes of the Health department
so that every child could be benefitted.
Describing health and education as two important parameters for the development
of nation, Mr. Hooda said that good health could only be ensured with a healthy
childhood. If childhood remains healthy, it would lead to good education which
in turn would provide strong foundation for the development of the society.
Mr. Hooda said that since the year 2005, the State Government has laid special
emphasis on the areas of health and education. The budget of both the
departments have been increased by manifold with an aim to ensure proper health
facilities and education in the State.
The Chief Minister said that Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation
programme aimed at providing Iron Folic Acid Tablets to all the students from
class VI to XII on every Monday in Government Schools. He said that adolescent
girls in the age of 10-19 years would also be given this supplementation
at Anganwadi Centres. The intake of folic acid tablet would check amameia in
mothers and children. Describing health is wealth, Mr. Hooda said that the day
when we get rid of anemia, the mother and the children could live a healthier
life. He also directed the Health Department to launch more such
programmes which would ensure good health of the people.
Mr. Hooda urged the people to get their children administered
the Pentavalent Vaccine saying that it provides protection against
five life-threatening diseases namely Diphtheria, Pertusis, Tetanus, Hepatitis
and Hib Pneumonia. He said that Vaccine would be administered to children of
upto one year of age and would be available free of cost for all sections of
the society at all public health institutions through the State Routine
Immunization Programme. The launch of Pentavalent Vaccine would help in
reducing the number of injections a child receives from nine to three.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released the Calendar and Diary
with the theme “Solid Bano India” campaign of Health Department for the
year 2012-13. Mr. Hooda also released a booklet “Sarpanch Suvidhaon Ko Behtar
Banane Ke Liye PRIs ki Bhagedari”.
While expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister for
announcing him as the Brand Ambassador of Health Department, Mr. Yogeshwar Dutt
said that he was proud to be associated with a social cause. He urged the
people that they should give Folic Acid tablets and administer Pentavalent Vaccine to their children
on time so that they remain healthy. This could only be possible with the
active participation of the people, he added.
Health Minister Rao Narinder Singh said that it was the result of the
farsighted approach of Mr. Hooda for sports, that he has announced Yogeshwar
Dutt as a Brand Ambassador of Health Department. He said that Mr. Yogeshwar
Dutt as a Brand Ambassador would prove to be very beneficial in disseminating
the message, which we want to deliver. He said that Mr. Hooda has given new
identity to the players in the State and showed how a player being brought up
in the rural areas could touch new heights of fame.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Ram Kishan Fouji said that this day would be
written in golden letters in the history of Haryana. Lakhs of children in
Haryana would be benefited with the launch of weekly Iron and Folic Acid
Supplementation programme and Pentavalent Vaccine. He said that it was the
mission of Health Department to ensure that the benefit of both these
programmes reach every child.
Principal Secretary, Health Mrs. Navraj Sandhu and Mission Director, National
Rural Health Mission, Mr. Rakesh Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
MLA Mr. Anand Singh Dangi, Additional Principal Secretary, Mr Shiv Raman Gaur
and Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender Singh were also present
on the occasion.
