CHANDIGARH, AUG 7
The Haryana Government has signed Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with four Independent Power Producers for setting up of
five biomass power projects of 51 MW capacity with an investment of Rs. 230
crore. Out of these, two projects are likely to be soon commissioned.
While stating
this here today, an official spokesman said that the State Government had
increased annual budget of Renewable Energy Department from Rs.3.9 crore in the
year 2004-2005 to Rs. 42.43 crore in the
year 2012-13 as a part of its programme to promote renewable energy in the
state.
To produce
electricity from the distillery waste, a project of one MW capacity at M/s
Ashoka Distillery and Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Hathin , district Palwal and three MW
project at M/s Globus Spirit, Smalkhan, district Panipat had been setup. For generation of power from agricultural
waste, 11 projects of 24.95 MW capacity through cogeneration route had been
setup in the industries, he added.
Under Jawahar Lal Nehru National
Solar Mission, eight projects of 7.8 MW capacity had already been commissioned in the State which included
seven projects of one MW each at village Nandha (district Bhiwani), village
Badhour (district Panchkula), Village Balsamand, (district Hisar), village
Panchaota (district Mahendergarh), village Sarakpur(district Panchkula),
village Kumthala(district Sirsa), village Nigana (district Rohtak) and 0.8 MW
Project in village Silarpurmehta district Mahendergarh, said the spokesman
adding that under off-grid programme of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar
Mission, solar power projects of 541.45 KW capacity had been setup in 30
private sector and Govt. offices.
He said that 5635 SPV
Home Lighting Systems had been installed with an investment of Rs. 5.99 crore in 11 villages of district Hisar having 50
per cent or more population of members belonging to Scheduled Castes or
Scheduled Tribes (SC /ST) upto March 31,2012. Similarly, 3863 SPV Home Lighting
Systems had been installed with an investment of Rs. 4.10 crore in 67 villages
of district Rewari, four villages of district Jhajjar and eight villages of
district Mahendergarh having 50 per cent or more SC /ST population and in 56 villages of district Rewari, Mahendergarh
and Fatehabad having 50 per cent or more ST population, 1616 SPV Street Lighting Systems had been
installed.
As many as 6500 Solar Lamps costing over Rs.1.38 crore
had been provided free of cost to the students of ST category. A project to install 3936 SPV Street Lighting
Systems with an investment of Rs. 9.5 crore in 313 villages of district Yamuna
Nagar, Ambala, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Panipat, Sonipat, Jind,
Faridabad, Bhiwani, Gurgaon & Panchkula having 50% or more SC population
had been completed, he added.
He said that to produce
power from the bagasse in Sugar Mills
through cogeneration route, a 1.8 MW project at Meham Cooperative Sugar Mill,
24 MW project at Shahbad Cooperative Sugar Mill, 16 MW project at Rohtak
Cooperative Sugar Mill and 2 MW project at Hafed Cooperative Sugar Mill, Asandh
had been setup.To create awareness among the students and masses about
renewable energy and energy conservation technologies, 21 District Level Energy
Parks had been setup in the State with an investment of Rs. 1.8 crore.
“Haryana is one of the
leading States where Energy Conservation Fund has been created for execution of
energy conservation programmes”, he added.
The spokesman pointed
out that an innovative scheme to reward the Panchayats which have done
excellent work for the promotion of renewable energy has been initiated in the
State. Under this scheme, State level first, second and third prizes of Rs.
5.00 lakh , Rs. 4.00 lakh and Rs. 3.00 lakh respectively and District level
first and second prizes of Rs. 50,000
and Rs. 25,000 were given. Energy
Clubs had also been setup in 14 engineering colleges of the State with an
investment of Rs. 3.5 lakh to promote Renewable Energy.
He said, “ Haryana is
one of the few leading states in the country where Energy Conservation Awards
ranging from Rs.50,000 to Rs. 2.00 lakh had been initiated for energy
conservation & energy management in HT & LT Industries, Educational
Institutes, Commercial buildings, Govt. & Non-Govt. institutions. In the
agriculture sector, old pumps of 205 farmers of Mohanpur Feeder of district
Kurukeshtra were being replaced with 4 star pump sets on which an expenditure
of Rs. 1.25 crore would be incurred by
the State Government. Now, the use of
minimum 4 Star rating agriculture pumpsets had been made mandatory for the
farmers”.
“ Haryana has been
awarded first and second awards respectively at National Level for SPV Urban
programme and Solar Cooker Programme for the year 2007-08. The State has been awarded Best State Award
consecutively for the last four year since 2007-08 for promotion of energy
conservation.” he added.
