The Haryana Government has
invited nominations to confer State Awards to the teachers for the year 2011.
While stating this
here today, Haryana Education Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that State
Awards were awarded by the Government to teachers in recognition of their
significant performance on September 5, every year. She said that all District
Education Officers (DEOs) and District Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs)
have been directed to recommend the cases for the State Award-2011 by August
15, 2012.
Detailing about the
eligibility, Mrs. Bhukkal said that teachers with atleast 15 years of regular
class teaching experience and Headmasters or Principals with 20 years of
regular teaching experiences as on December 31, 2011 would be eligible for
sending nominations. She made it clear that the Educational Administrators
including Director and staff of SCERT/DEO/DEEOs/ Principal DIETs and staff of
DIETs/Deputy DEOs/ Block Education Officers (BEOs)/AEOs would not be eligible
to apply for these awards. The Minister said that the categories of teachers
eligible for nominations would be primary teachers who were teaching upto class
V and secondary teachers who were teaching classes VI to XII.
Mrs. Bhukkal said that
District Level Committee would examine the cases of various categories as per
criteria and if there are cases scoring more than 70 per cent, then their names
may be recommended by the committee to the State Level Committee. The District
level Committee would be headed by District Education Officer concerned. Other
members included Principal DIET, Principal of a Senior Secondary School and
Principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya. The recommendations of the District Level
Committees would be scrutinized by the State Level Committee chaired by
Director, Secondary Education. The State Level Committee shall finalise the
names for the award.
The Minister said that
main consideration for awards would be academic efficiency, personal
achievements, involvement in social life of community and academic and
co-curricular achievement of the children. The scheme envisages that those
teachers who show exceptional academic efficiency, quality of teaching and
professional competence, good conduct and team spirit, engagement with the
local community, utilize innovative teaching methods and command respect in the
community would be recommended for the awards. The selection process would be
completely transparent, she further added.
