The Haryana Government has invited suitable nominations for the
Padma Awards (Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri) ,which are
among the highest civilian honours to be announced on the occasion of
Republic Day, on January 26, 2013.
In a written communication addressed to all Divisional Commissioners
and Deputy Commissioners by the Chief Secretary, it is stated that the
nominations should be submitted to the State Government on the
prescribed proforma by August 31, 2012 so as to enable the committee of
the State Government to examine their cases before forwarding them to
the Central Government.
The proforma should have full name, address, date of birth of the
person, important events of his life, his occupation or details of his
office in both languages Hindi and English. In case, the
recommendations are in respect of a government officer or official, his
personal file should also be attached with the recommendations and the
recommendations should be submitted to the Government through the
concerned Head of Department or Administrative Secretary.
While Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished
service, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri are awarded for distinguished and
exceptional achievements or service in all fields or disciplines, such
as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science
and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry and
others. Highest standards are maintained while selecting persons for
these awards.
It is ensured that persons worthy of the award are not left out of
consideration and there has to be an element of public service in the
achievements of the persons to be selected for the awards. The lifetime
achievements of the person are considered while making such a
recommendation.
