A two-day Kisan Mela will be organised at Chaudhary Charan Singh
Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar on September 12 and13.
While stating this
today, Dr J. S. Dhankhar, Extension Education Director of the University and convenor
of the Mela said that the farmers would be acquainted with the methods of
moisture conservation in the soil and dry area crop technology, besides latest
farm techniques to increase the yield of Rabi crops in the Mela.
He said that a huge
exhibition would also be organised in the Mela in which all departments of the
university would exhibit their latest technology and products evolved for the
development of agriculture, animal husbandry and rural ambience. Agro
industries and multi national companies would also set up their stalls in the
Mela. Special provision would be made for scientific testing of soil and water.
Dr Dhankhar pointed out
that advanced seeds of Rabi crops would also be sold in the Mela. Seed sale
counter would be set up for the convenience of farmers. The groups of farmers
would be taken to the research farm of the university to show them Kharif crops
grown with the new farm techniques and demonstrations on seeds, seed treatment,
land acclamation, fertilizers, optimum utilisation of irrigation water and plant
protection would be held. Question-answer meetings would also be organised afternoon
on both days in which farmers could find solutions of the problems related to
agriculture, animal husbandry and home science.
Stall sites in the
exhibition to be set up at Kisan Mela would be allocated to the private
