Haryana Chief
Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that he expected Maruti’s plant at
Manesar in Haryana to shortly resume its production.
“They(Maruti) are going to start it
as early as possible,” Mr Hooda said this at an interactive session with MCC
Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kolkata. The function was organised by MCC
Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Kolkata.
Mr Hooda said that there was
absolutely no problem in the state and Maruti Management has itself clarified
to the media that they were not shifting and there was no question of moving
away from Haryana. He said that Maruti Management was satisfied and Special
Investigation Team was probing the incident. They could expand their
facilities in other areas as per their requirement but they would not shift as
Maruti has itself clarified and he would go by only what Maruti says, Mr Hooda
added.
Mr Hooda said the Maruti management
was happy with the steps taken by the State government, including the formation
of a special investigating team. He said that the overall crime rate and man
days loss in Haryana was the lowest among states and described the Maruti
episode as an ‘untoward’ incident. There can be so many reasons for the incident,
he added.
Mr Hooda said that every second car
and motorcycle produced in India is from Haryana. During the previous 7-8
years, Haryana has emerged as the leading state in the country in a number of
areas like per capita investment, per capita income, wheat and milk
productivity, industries, education and sports. He said that the country had
won three medals so far in the London Olympics and two of them had been won by
sportspersons hailing from Haryana. Similarly, Haryana players had contributed 22
Gold Medals out of total 38 Gold Medals won by the country in the Common Wealth
Games, whereas it’s a small state with only two per cent population of
the country.
