Japan has appreciated the ‘strong initiatives’
of Haryana Chief Minister Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda and measures taken by the
Haryana Government after the recent Manesar incident. This was conveyed by the
Japanese Ambassador, Mr Akitaka Saiki after his meeting with the Haryana Chief
Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi today.
Mr Akitaka thanked the Haryana Chief Minister
for his letter and for state's commitment to the safety and security of the investors in general and Japanese in particular. Mr Hooda had recently written a letter to the Ambassador in which he had informed about the various steps taken by the state government and its commitment to maintain industrial
harmony in the state.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister reiterated
that the safety of entire Japanese community was state's duty and that would be ensured and that the state government had taken many effective measures in this regard. He said that every precaution and all the necessary measures would be taken to ensure proper security and safety for all the Japanese people in particular and other investors in general. He
said that Special Investigation Team had been constituted, which was investigating and progressing well as substantial number of suspects have been arrested. A full Battalion of Police, comprising about 550 police personnel and officers, has also been stationed at Manesar to ensure safety of one and all and the state government will also provide personal security if needed, he further added.

The Haryana Chief Minister said that the State
Government was also concerned about the incident, which was the only one untoward incident that has happened so far in the history of Haryana.
The Japanese Ambassador informed the Chief
Minister that the Japanese community ‘knew that the State Government had been
maintaining very warm relations with the Japanese investors. Reacting to Mr
Hooda’s initiatives, the Ambassador said that the Japanese Embassy was ‘very
appreciative of the measures so far taken by the state government’.
After meeting, the Chief Minister as well as
Mr Akitaka described the meeting as ‘very productive’. On being asked the reasons of choosing Haryana as the most preferred destination by the Japanese people as most of the Japanese investment had been in Haryana only, Mr Akitaka said that Maruti Suzuki was the first reason and after that the
Haryana Government had always been a very-very considerate and warm to them.

Mr Chhatar Singh, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary Mr Y.S. Malik, Principal Resident Commissioner Mr P.K. Mahapatra and Minister(Economics) to Embassy of Japan, Mr Tamaki Tsukada were also present on the occasion.
