CHANDIGARH, NOV 24
The Sirsa District Administration clamped curfew in Sirsa town after a clash between the supporters of Dera Sacha Sauda and members of the Sikh community at Valmiki Chowk on Saturday in which about a dozen people were injured.
All the injured persons have been
admitted to the General Hospital and are out of danger. Sant Gurmeet Singh Tirloke Wala who was also injured and was taken to hospital by the deputy commissioner in his
car, has appealed to the people to maintain peace and not to believe in rumors. The district administration has requisitioned 15 companies
of para military forces to help the administration maintain law and order.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr. J Ganesan,
has appealed to the residents of Sirsa not to step out of their homes but
assured them that law and order, communal harmony and peace would be maintained at all costs.

the city, especially at the
General Hospital, on the Rania road, and around the gurdwara.
Significant measures have been taken to keep an eye on every part of
the city to avoid any untoward incident.

Dr Ganesan said that all Sub-Divisional
Officers (civil), Tehsildars, Block Development and Panchayat Officers had been
directed to stay in their offices and remain in touch with the police stations to keep an eye on the situation. In case they receive any information about the law-and-order being disturbed or public property being destroyed, they should take quick action against the anti-social elements. The officers have been directed to send daily report to the
district headquarters in the evening.
