CHANDIGARH, NOV 5
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has approved the setting up of
a State Commission for Scheduled Castes.
While hailing the decision of the Chief Minister to set up such a Commission
for members belonging to Scheduled Castes in the State, Haryana Minister for
Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Mrs Geeta Bhukkal said that
although the present State Government has been ensuring social justice to all,
yet the decision to set up this Commission reflected Government’s resolve to
safeguard the interests of the weaker sections of the society.
Mrs Bhukkal said that State Government has already implemented a number of
schemes and ambitious programmes to enhance educational and socio-economic
status of members belonging to Scheduled Castes.
She reminded that the State Government has already recently set up a Human
Rights Commission and a State Commission for Women.
