CHANDIGARH, JAN 28
The Haryana Health Minister, Mr Rao Narender Singh, today
disclosed that the state government has decided to set up Sick Neo Natal Care
Unit (SNCU) in General Hospital of every district. Recently, such SNCU were set
up in 13 districts of the state and rest 9 districts would be covered in near
future.
Rao Narender Singh was interacting with media persons
after inauguration of IVF Centre in Park Hospital located in Sector 47 of
Gurgaon.
The Chairman of the hospital Dr Ajit Gupta informed the Health
Minister that IVF Centre named ‘ Harmony’ is fitted with modern equipments
which would be helpful in producing a test tube baby to those couples who
desired a baby but were unable to conceive.
Refering to the steps taken by the state government to
provide better health care facilities to the masses, Rao Narender Singh said
that though the government is giving priority to the health sector, yet thrust
is on providing better health care facilities to mother and child.
With this
objective, 13 SNCUs have been set up in district Ambala, Bhiwani, Palwal,
Panchkula, Narnaul, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Kaithal, Mewat, Yamunanagar, Hisar,
Sonepat & Rohtak. The latest facilities of treatment like ventilator,
warmer were available to the new born in these units. The children born in
General Hospitals can avail these facilities free of cost and the children born
in private clinics or hospitals were also allowed to avail these facilities at
the SNCU.
He said that doctors and nurses would be available round
the clock in SNCU and they have asked to provide all medicines to the new born
free of cost. The pediatricians at the SNCU have been instructed not to ask the
parents of new born to bring medicine from outside the hospital. ‘Yasodhas’
have also been appointed in each SNCU who were specially trained in taking care
of new borns and they were not assigned duty elsewhere. With the efforts of the
state government and awareness of parents, the Infant Mortality Rate
(IMR) has dropped from 61 in Haryana (SRS 2005) to 48 as per SRS 2010, Health
Minister added.
He said that Haryana is the only state in North India
which has started Pantavalent Vaccine free of cost in all General Hospitals for
saving the new borns from five deadly diseases. Rao Narender Singh also
mentioned that the state government was concerned about the skewed sex ratio
and a scheme to motivate the gram panchayats to come forward in improving the
ratio has also been launched under which every year on Republic Day, a cash
reward of Rs 1 lakh was given to the Panchayat which stood first in the
district in terms of sex ratio and Rs 25000 to the runners up village, Rao
Narender Singh added.
