CHANDIGARH, JAN 8
The Haryana Chief Minister,
Mr.Bhupinder Singh Hooda, today urged the Central Government to run a Shatabdi
Express train between Jaipur and Chandigarh and he also endorsed other railway
projects demanded for Haryana adding that the state government would contribute
its share for their implementation.
Mr.Hooda was addressing a largely attended function organized to inaugurate
newly constructed Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak railway line in the premises of railway
station, Rewari where Union Minister of State for Railways, Mr.K.J.Surya
Prakash Reddy was present. He said that with this line becoming functional not
only Rewari and Rohtak have been connected, but the entire southern Haryana has
been linked to northern Haryana.
He said that Haryana has got a new railway line after a gap of 33 years. It was
in the year 1979 when the state had got a railway line between Bhiwani and
Rohtak. The 81 kms. long Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak railway line has cost Rs.602
crore, the half of which has been borne by the state government. In all, there
would be five railway stations between Rewari and Rohtak and these included
Gokalgarh, Palhawas, Machhrauli, Jhajjar and Dighal. The new train would
directly benefit two Lok Sabha constituencies and eight assembly constituencies
in Haryana.
While giving his best wishes to the people for the new year, Mr.Hooda also
thanked the Mr.Reddy adding that this project has realized the dream of the
people and credited its success to UPA Chairperson, Mrs.Sonia Gandhi and Prime
Minister, Dr.Manmohan Singh.
Mr.Hooda said that it was on October 7, 2007 that Mrs.Sonia Gandhi had laid the
foundation stone of this project. This project has not only connected Rewari
with Rohtak and Chandigarh, but it has also connected the area with Kandala
port. This new railway line would give a big boost to industry.
Mr.Hooda said that he and father of the Union Minister, namely, Mr.Vijay
Bhaskar Reddy were together Members of the Parliament and now Mr.Surya Prakash
Reddy and his son Mr.Deepender Singh Hooda were together in the Parliament.
Mr Hooda said that the new rail line would usher in industrial development in
the area through which it passes. Referring to the development of Rewari
district, Mr Hooda said that during INLD-BJP regime from 1999-2005, an amount
of Rs. 435.48 crore was spent in Rewari assembly constituency whereas after
2005 when present Congress government came into power, Rs. 3169.43 crore have
been spent which is more than seven times the expenditure made by INLD-BJP
government. Similarly, an amount of Rs. 131.21 crore was spent in Bawal
assembly constituency by INLD-BJP whereas the present government has spent
Rs.756.43 crore. In Kosli assembly
constituency, Rs. 101.28 crore were spent during Chautala’s regime whereas now
an amount of Rs. 744.96 crore has been spent during Congress government’s
tenure.
Regarding demand of raising the status of Mirpur regional center as a
University, Mr Hooda said that he would consider this also at some opportune
time as he had set up Sainik School in this area which was a long standing
demand of the people. Striking a chord with the people in their dialect, Mr
Hooda said, “ Jis Tarah Aaj Rail Chali Hain, Usi Prakar Vikas Ki Rail Bhi
Chalegi, Bahut Teji Se Chalegi” (as a new train has started, similarly development
would be expedited).
Mr Hooda and Union Minister boarded the train and traveled in it from Rewari to
Rohtak. On every railway station on the way, they were accorded a rousing
welcome by large number of people gathered there.
Earlier, Minister of state for Railways, Mr Reddy said that Indian railways is
one of the world’s largest railways system with 63000 route kms. It carries
nearly 2 crore 30 lakh passengers per day. He congratulated V.K. Gupta,
General Manager Northern Railways and his team for this rail project and
announced an award of Rs three lakh for them. He assured that Indian railways
will further take into consideration the needs of the people of Haryana region
and try to expand and improve the railway infrastructure in close association
with the State Government of Haryana.
Mr Deepender Singh Hooda, Rohtak MP, said that the new railway line has not
only connected Rewari with Rohtak but also linked eight assembly constituencies
which, according to him, play significant role in deciding the politics of the
state. He said that the staff of Ministry of Railways had been very positive
throughout the project. Lashing out at the opposition, the younger Hooda said
that in future there will be clashes between two ideologies. One is of
development which the present Congress government practices and the other of
selfishness practiced by the opposition parties. Supporting the demand of
starting Shatabdi Express between Jaipur and Chandigarh on this track, he said
that this new railway line would become a base of development. He demanded to
develop railway stations of Rewari or Rohtak as Modal Railway Stations like
that of stations of state capitals.
Haryana Power Miniser Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav said that this new railway line
has been commissioned due to the efforts of Chief Minister and his son
Deepender Singh Hooda. This line would be helpful for the students as the
traveling time to Rohtak University would be reduced. He also raised a number
of demands including running of Shatabdi from Jaipur to Chandigarh. The
president of Haryana Pardesh Congress Committee Mr.Phool Chand Mullana and
Managing Director Northern, Mr. Vijay Kumar Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
