Hooda announces hike in sugarcane price

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder  Singh Hooda today announced Rs.45 hike per quintal in each variety of sugarcane.

          This announcement was made by Mr. Hooda while interacting with various farmers’ organization who called on him at New Delhi today.

          For crushing season 2012-13, farmers would get Rs.276 per quintal instead of Rs.231 per quintal rate for early variety of sugarcane of last year. Similarly, they would get Rs.271 per quintal instead of Rs.226 per quintal for mid variety and Rs.266 per quintal instead of Rs.221 per quintal for late maturing variety of sugarcane.

          Mr. Hooda said that he himself a farmer’s son and his every decision would be in the interest of farming community. I would not take such decision which is against the farmers’ interest. He said that State Government had ensured highest ever prices of sugarcane as compared to other states for the last five years. This year, State of Uttar Pradesh had hiked sugarcane price by Rs.40 per quintal while he is increasing the same by Rs.45 per quintal.

          The Chief Minister said that Haryana Government is pro-farmer government. The government is supplying electricity to agricultural sector at 50 per cent rates as compared to Uttar Pradesh and canal abyana had already been abolished. The state government is also giving subsidy of Rs.3800 crore on electricity for agriculture sector.

          Mr. Hooda said that some anti forces were jealous of success of the government headed by a farmers’ son and trying to mislead the people. He said that Prime Minister had set up a working group under his chairmanship for increase in agricultural production and to ensure remunerative prices to farmers for their produce. The working group had already submitted its recommendations to the Prime Minister. With the implementations of these recommendations, the farmers would be largely benefited.
