The Haryana Government has modified the existing
scheme of “Awards to Rural Adolescent Girls” to encourage rural girls for
pursuing higher education.
While stating this today, Director General, Haryana Women
and Child Development Department, Mrs Sunita Misra said that under this scheme
adolescent girls who have passed their senior secondary and matriculation
examination from Haryana State Education Board in rural areas from each block
would be given awards of Rs. 3000, Rs.2500 and Rs. 2000 for senior
secondary examination and Rs 2000, Rs. 1500 and Rs. 1000 for matriculation
examination for obtaining first, second and third position
respectively.Earlier these awards were being given only to rural girl students
of the matriculation examination.
She said that under the new scheme awards will be given away
to six adolescent girls every year from each block who have obtained
first three positions in the senior secondary and matriculation
examination respectively conducted by Haryana State Education Board from
schools in rural areas. The expenditure on these awards will be Rs.15.30 lakh
and it would benefit 726 adolescent girls every year.
