CHANDIGARH, FEB 2
Bahadurgarh is all set to become fourth National Capital Region Town and third city of Haryana to be connected with Delhi through Metro Rail as Union Urban Development Minister Mr Kamal Nath and Haryana Chief Minister Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda today laid the foundation stone of Mundka(Delhi)-Bahadurgarh metro rail link at Bahadurgarh.
The project having a route length of 11.182 Kms will be completed by March, 2016 with project cost of Rs 1991 crore.  Haryana Government will contribute Rs.787.96 crore. There will be seven stations- Mundka Industrial Area, Ghewra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri Border (all 4 in Delhi), Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park Bahadurgarh (3 in Haryana) from Mundka to Bahadurgarh. The travel time from Bahadurgarh (City Park) to Mundka will be 20 minutes while it will take 45 minutes upto Inderlok and about 50 minutes upto Kirti Nagar in Delhi.
An agreement regarding the same was also signed between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). Haryana Principal Secretary, Town and Country Planning Mr S S Dhillon and Director (Works) DMRC Mr Jitender Tyagi signed the agreement on behalf of the two organizations.
Union Minister Mr Kamal Nath said that this metro link was needed as it would drastically reduce the travel time from Bahadurgarh to Delhi. He said that this project would further expedite the pace of development of this area. He lauded the role played by Rohtak MP Mr Deepender Singh Hooda in bringing this project to Haryana and said that he took keen interest and never missed the opportunity to put forward the demand whenever he got the chance. Mr Kamal Nath even mentioned the fast development of Haryana and gave credit to Chief Minister Sh Bhupinder Singh Hooda for this.
Haryana Chief Minister Sh Bhupinder Singh Hooda thanked the Union Minister for sanctioning the project and said that it will prove to be a mile stone in the way of development. He said that this metro link will be helpful for people of Haryana. Referring to Bahadurgarh, Mr Hooda said that growth was witnessed on three sides of Delhi- Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida but this side of Bahadurgarh remained neglected. He said that he has a map of development of this town which would make it equal to Gurgaon in coming five to seven years in terms of development if the people keep on supporting him. Now, the wheels of development for Bahadurgarh were fitted and needed to be accelerated.
Earlier, Rohtak MP Mr Deepender Singh Hooda also conveyed gratitude on behalf of the people towards the Union Minister for sanctioning the project. He said that it took three years to get the project through. He said that Delhi was reluctant for construction of metro rail in its territory after Mundka, saying that it was sparsely populated. But due to persistent efforts, it materialized.   He said that now the target is to extend this metro rail link upto Assuada where, according to him, metro station and bus stand should be at one place. He said that now he would try to get Electric Train (EMU) approved between Bahadurgah and Delhi during this month. Mr Deepender Hooda said that a few days back Rewari was connected to Rohtak via Jhajjar by laying a new rail line. At present, three new rail lines were being laid in Haryana.
Education Minister Mrs Geeta Bhukkal, former Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Dr Raghubir Kadian, Political Advisor to CM Prof Virender and MLA Bahadurgarh Rajender Singh Joon also addressed the gathering which though was a foundation laying ceremony but turned into a massive rally.
Later, the Chief Minister also laid foundation of eleven new projects and inaugurated nine projects costing about Rs 2250 crore in Bahadurgarh.
