Government has appealed to the employees of the State Roadways not to resort to
strike the call for which has been given for February 13 as the Chief Minister,
Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda has already accepted most of their demands and the
remaining were being examined.
The Director General, State Transport, Mr Arun Kumar reminded that Mr Hooda had
held a meeting with various Workers’ Unions including Haryana Roadways Workers
Union, All Haryana Roadways Workers Joint Action Committee, Haryana Roadways
Karamchari Sanyukt Sangharash Samiti on February 6, 2013. After detailed
deliberations, decisions were taken in the meeting and a bonanza of incentives
was announced by the Chief Minister the same day.
He said that the Chief Minister has already announced to give ex-gratia relief
of Rs five lakh upon death of a contractual or daily wages employee of Haryana
Roadways and in case of permanent disability, compensation to the extent of Rs
2.5 lakh depending upon the extent of disability would be given. The allowance
for shoes has also been increased from Rs 600 to Rs 1000 and the night allowance
of Rs 18 for workshop staff has also been increased to Rs 40. He said that in
the service condition for SPL driver and conductor, the current period of three
years for regularization has been reduced to two years.
The Government is examining the issue to regularize the services of about 200
those Haryana Roadways workers who were initially engaged during 1993 strike
and removed but later taken on rolls in the year 2004 under Court orders on the
pattern of drivers or conductors.
The widow of Haryana Roadways regular employee, who dies in service, would get
the facility of free travel in Haryana Roadways buses till the time of
superannuation of the said employee. ITI scales would be given to all helpers
working on technical posts in the workshops of Haryana Roadways. The case
for extending the Court orders to similarly situated helpers would
be considered sympathetically. He said that the fleet of Haryana Roadways would
be expanded from current 3850 to 4500 by the year 2013-14.
The case of overtime allowance of those, who are non-petitioners would also be
considered sympathetically. All Haryana Roadways buses, bus stands, workshops,
sub depots would have first-aid boxes.Transport Department would take up with
Housing Board the issue of making Housing Colonies for the employees of Haryana
Roadways. The Director General of Police would take up the matter with Police
Commissioner, Delhi regarding harassment to Haryana Roadways drivers by Delhi
Police and unjustified challaning.
He said that the Anomaly Committee of the Finance Department would resolve the
anomalies urgently. The recruitment of drivers be expedited and completed
within three-four months.
