The Haryana
Government has decided to do away with the practice of verification of
genuineness of the Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards for allotment of land or
flats earmarked for the persons belonging to Economically
Weaker Sections (EWS) in licensed colonies.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Town and Country Planning
Department said that after draw of lots, these successful candidates
would be asked to furnish an affidavit to the effect that in case his or her
name did not figure in the BPL list on the date of draw of lot, the
allotment of flat would be cancelled and entire amount deposited would be
forfeited.
He said that a decision to this effect had been taken as it was observed that
the provisions of this policy were not being followed in letter and spirit.
The list of all successful BPL candidates in draw of lots is
sent to district administration for verification of the BPL status, but
inaction on their part caused inordinate delay in allotment of flats which
defeated the objective of the said policy.
In case, where
draw of lots for EWS plots or flats have already taken place and the list
is pending with the district administration for verification of the BPL
status, the allotment letter might also be issued on the similar lines to
successful candidates under intimation to the district administration.
He said that a communication to this effect has been sent to all Senior
Town Planners and District Town Planners in the State. All Deputy
Commissioners too have been informed of this decision, he added.
