Haryana Chief
Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today
disclosed that with a view to provide affordable housing facilities to the
people, over 1.30 lakh new houses would be constructed in the State
within two years.
Mr Hooda was reviewing the housing programme of Haryana Urban Development
Authority, Urban Local Bodies Department and Haryana Housing Board, here today.
While 40,000 houses each would be constructed by Housing Board, and Urban Local
Bodies Department, 50,000 houses would be constructed by Haryana Urban
Development Authority.
He directed the officers of the concerned department to formulate a special
scheme for the construction of houses for labourers and industrial workers so
that they could reside in better living conditions.
It was informed in the meeting that pilot projects were in process under the
Rajiv Awas Yojna costing Rs. 489.92 crores for providing infrastructure and
housing facilities for slums in six towns of the State. The project would soon
be sent to the Central Government for its approval. These towns are Faridabad,
Rohtak, Gurgaon, Ambala City, Ambala Sadar and Yamunanagar-Jagadhari. Under
this scheme, 50 per cent of the total cost would be borne by the Central
Government.

Minister, Mr Satpal Sangwan, Chief Secretary Mr. P.K. Chaudhery, Principal
Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Chhatar Singh, Additional Principal Secretary
Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayat Mr. Ram
Niwas, Principal Secretary, Finance Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal and other senior
officers were also present in the meeting.
