CHANDIGARH, FEB 10
While the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh
Hooda, has laid stress on furthering the pro-farmer and pro- poor policies of
former Union Minister late Mr Rajesh Pilot, the Union Minister of State for
Corporate Affairs, Mr Sachin Pilot said that the UPA Government would not
hesitate to implement another scheme to waive off farm loans, if the need
arose.
They
both were addressing a ‘Kissan Sammelan’ near village Ghata in Gurgaon where Mr
Hooda unveiled a statue of late Mr Rajesh Pilot on his 69th birthday
today. Mr Hooda also announced that the road from Southern Peripheral Road to
village Kadarpur would be named after Rajesh Pilot. . Promoting his ideology
will be the true homage to the departed leader, Mr Hooda added.
Mr
Hooda said Mr Pilot was respected for his fearless views, particularly about
the farmers and the poor and it was due to his efforts that the Congress party
and the government emphasized on pro-farmer and pro-poor policies. The UPA
government under the guidance of Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Prime Ministership of Dr
Manmohan Singh waived off the loans of the farmers upto Rs 70,000 crore. For
the poor, the Congress started the MNREGA Scheme and other pro-poor programmes
both for rural and urban areas, which have helped in raising the living
standard of the poor.
Calling as Mr Rajesh Pilot as friend and elder brother, Mr Hooda said that our
views about the farmers and the poor were similar and I was impressed by the
forceful manner, in which he used to put up his views. His statue has been
established, so that the future generation remembers his contribution to the
service of the country and tries to follow his ideals. Mr Hooda said that
today’s youth is actively taking part in politics and the future of the country
is safe in the hands of youth leaders like Mr Rahul Gandhi and Mr Sachin Pilot.
Mr Hooda was all praise for Sachin Pilot, son of Mr Rajesh Pilot, and said that
he was following the footsteps of his father and serving farmers and poor
sections of the society. When Mr Sachin Pilot was speaking, it looked as if the
soul of Mr Rajesh Pilot was there, Mr Hooda said.
Thanking Mr Hooda and other dignitaries and admirers of
Late Mr Rajesh Pilot, who had come to the Kissan Sammelan, Mr Sachin Pilot said
that we have to fulfill the aspirations of common people of the country,
particularly the poor and the farmers. The coming generation, otherwise will
ask the question, as to what we have done for the farmers, for common people
and for bridging the gap between the rural and urban areas. “We have to help
them in coming up and we have tried to help farmers by raising the MSP of their
produce”, Mr Sachin Pilot maintained. He said that in Haryana, the Chief
Minister Mr Hooda is pursuing the welfare policies for the poor and farmers and
the state is progressing under his leadership. That is why the people have
given the Congress government a second chance. We are thankful to Mrs Sonia
Gandhi and Mr Rahul Gandhi for giving the youth an opportunity to serve the
country by including them in the Council of Ministers, he said.
Gurgaon Member of Parliament Rao Inderjeet Singh also
paid tributes to Mr Rajesh Pilot and said that he is proud that his statue has
been installed in his constituency. He also appreciated the way in which Mr
Sachin Pilot is working. Recalling the Kolkata AICC session, Rao Inderjeet said
that there were so many speakers, who spoke on that occasion, but it was the
straight forward speech of Mr Rajesh Pilot, which he remembered the most.
Rohtak MP Mr Deepender Singh Hooda said that in his brief life span Mr Rajesh
Pilot had left a permanent imprint in the politics of the country. Whenever
somebody met him, he was enthused to do something for the country and the
people. About Sachin Pilot he said that he is firmly following his father’s
ideals. Whenever he speaks in the Lok Sabha, everybody listens to him with keen
interest. When I met Sachin Pilot for the first time in Lok Sabha after
election, I felt as if I had met my brother.
Mrs Rama Pilot, wife of late Mr Rajesh Pilot, thanked the
dignitaries and the people, who had come all the way from different parts of
Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Mrs Pilot said that earlier she
asked Mr Rajesh Pilot to go and serve the country and now her son Sachin is
following his footsteps. Today, what I am, it is because of your love and
blessings, she said.
