CHANDIGARH, FEB 5
Haryana Governor
Jagannath Pahadia has called upon the public and private sector to do their
best to preserve our ancient heritage. Protecting our heritage was a great
national enterprise in which different wings of the government should be
partner with civil society, private sector and local communities, he added.
Mr Pahadia was
presiding over the inaugural function of CTS Restoration Products India, a
branch of CTS, Italy at Okhala Industrial Area in New Delhi today. The
company deals in the development of products and equipments for restoration and
conservation.
Mr Pahadia said
that the preservation and restoration of our heritage was a great challenge as
once a historical monument, handicraft, painting or document is lost, it is
lost forever. He said that India has more than 5,000 years old
rich and ancient heritage. There were about 6,000 monuments protected by
Archaeological Survey of India and more than one lakh antiquities in its
museums. Apart from it the states have their own monuments and museums. These
need all time preservation and restoration, he added.
Congratulating
the management, officers and officials of CTS, Mr Pahadia said that this branch
of CTS would benefit the intuitions and professionals dedicated to protect our
heritage through easy access to technology and equipment from all over the
world. It would benefit organizations and conservation experts who had to
purchase tools and material from a number of suppliers and often from different
parts of the world. Thus the presence of CTS in India would prove to be a
milestone towards the facilitating the work of conservation and restoration in
the preservation of our ancient heritage for our posterity, he said.
The Union
Minister of Culture, Mrs Chandresh Kumari Katoch said that we should adopt a
focused approach to conservation and restoration techniques to preserve the
richness of our heritage as it indicates increased awareness of preservation of
our heritage and further such investment will set in motion forces in the economy
and allow us to use a huge opportunity that has yet to realize its full
potential.
Wishing the
company a grand success, Mrs Katoch expressed the hope that it will
serve not only in providing a complete range of high quality products and
services, but also in promoting and facilitating the exchange of knowhow and
culture between conservation and restoration professionals.
Earlier, Mrs
Chandresh Kumari Katoch inaugurated the technical demonstration of innovative
equipments in the field of conservation organized by CTS Restoration Products.
Mrs Angela,
Director of Italian Embassy Cultural Centre also spoke on the occasion. Mr.
Roberto Bello, Director CTS Restoration Products welcomed the guests and

all types of equipments and products for conservation and restoration all under
