Haryana is the first state in the country where sarpanches have been empowered
with financial powers to carry out various developmental works.
Addressing the sarpanches of sub division Samalkha, Financial
Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Haryana Panchayat and Rural Development
Department, Mr. Ram Niwas said this at Samalkha, district Panipat today.
He issued directions to the concerned officials to get the
various proposals regarding rural development passed by the panchayats and get
the same endorsed by the government so that funds could be issued for these
development works before March 31. He urged the sarpanches to further
accelerate the pace of development in the villages so that Haryana could make a
mark in the field of rural development at national level.
Laying emphasis on the importance of sanitation, he said that it
was his dream that every village of the district should be honoured with Nirmal
Gram Award. He said that to encourage the sarpanches, panches and officials who
have made significant contributions towards sanitation, an award function would
be organised in the month of May. Referring to the issues like drainage of
water, graveyard and land acquisition of plots to the poor, he issued
directions to the Deputy Commissioner of the district to carry out necessary
investigation at the earliest and send the proposal to the government so that these
issues could be redressed quickly. He also gave detailed information about
