Three Anganwadi Workers recommended for National Award

The  Haryana Government has recommended the names of three best Anganwadi Workers for National Award to be conferred by Government of India.
            A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the State Level Screening Committee held under the chairmanship of Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal here today.
           Those whose names have been recommended are Mrs. Karishna, Mrs. Kanta and Mrs. Santosh Rani, but the Central Government will chose one of them  for the award who would get Rs 25,000 in cash as the award money.
            Mrs. Bhukkal said that the national award to Anganwadi Worker is given to motivate the Anganwadi Workers and to give recognition to their exemplary voluntary services in child development and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme.
            The selection Committee selects the Awardees on the basis of performance of the Anganwadi Workers in improving the coverage and quality of services to children and pregnant and lactating mothers under the ICDS Schemes and the outcomes achieved by her.
            Those present on this occasion included Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development  Mr. P. Raghvendra Rao, Director General of the Department, Mrs. Sumita Misra and Dr. V.K. Sharma, Additional Director General, Health Services, Haryana.
