Distribution of medicines in Govt hospitals through token system

 In Haryana, the medicines would now be distributed through token system to patients in all General Hospitals. Haryana Health MinisterRao Narender Singh launched the token system for distributing medicines at General Hospital, Panchkula today.
         Speaking on this occasion, the Health Minister said that the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda is making concerted efforts to provide better health services to the people of the State. The medicines are already given free of cost to all OPD patients in Government Medical Institutions in the State. This has resulted in enhancing the faith of people in the schemes and programmes implemented in the health sector by the State Government. The General Hospital of Panchkula is being developed as a Model Hospital, he added.
          He said that the new token system is being implemented in phased manner in all district hospitals of the State. By November 1, 2013, all such institutions would start this facility. Now the patients would not have to wait long  in queues for medicines. Under the new token system, five counters have been set up including two for men, one for women, one for differently abled persons and senior citizens and one for pregnant women. The patients would get a slip after submitting their card for medicine.  They would get the medicine after their token numbers are shown on digital display. This system would be of great benefit and provide convenience to the patients, added Rao Narender Singh.
          Rao Narender Singh said that it has been decided to constitute Haryana Medical Services Corporation for procurement of medicines and medical equipments. The Corporation would ensure the procurement, storage and distribution of medicines and medical equipments alongwith its supply in hospitals and medical institutions.
He said that online monitoring is also being carried out for the demand and timely supply of medicines. Apart from this, arrangements have been made for storage of medicines in seven districts namely Ambala, Karnal, Gurgaon, Bhiwani, Rohtak and Hisar. Also, the Government has a proposal to set up two new godowns in Sonipat and Faridabad, he added.
          The Health Minister gave directions to the officers to ensure that proper treatment is available to the patients. He said that the paramedical and medical staff working at government hospitals should remain sensitive to the fact that health is the basic need of people and best available treatment is made available to the patient visiting Government hospitals, he added.
