The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has
launched a scathing attack on opposition party, the Indian National Lok
Dal (INLD), for having neglected the interests of the people of Radaur, and
letting them down on development. He was addressing a largely attended 'Radaur
Vikas Rally' held in the Grain Market, Radaur, in Yamunanagar district, today.
Pointing out that Mr
Om Prakash Chautala remained Chief Minister for six long years, he asked anyone
in the gathering to stand up and list any single decision the Chautala
Government had taken in
the interest of the farmers and poor people. Against this, the present state government has implemented several schemes for all sections of the society to ensure their growth and well being, Mr Hooda quipped.
Backing his claim with official figures, Mr Hooda said that during the six-year tenure of the INLD-BJP Government from 1999 to 2005, only a sum of Rs 58.26 crore was spent in the Radaur Assembly
constituency whereas the present state government has spent Rs 412.98 crore so far on various development works.
“Similarly, in Yamunanagar district, the INLD-BJP Government had spent Rs 399.97 crore while we have spent Rs 1,810.84 crore. This amount is in addition to Rs 2,400 crore spent on construction of the Deen Bandhu Chotu Ram Termal Power Plant, Yamunanagar”, the Chief Minister added.
Elated over the mammoth gathering of people, Mr Hooda announced a slew of incentives for Radaur. This included the status of tehsil to Radaur; Rs 50 crore for the repair of roads; Rs 10 crore
each for all the four Assembly constituencies in Yamunanagar district, namely Radaur, Yamunanagar, Jagadhari and Sadhaura, from the Haryana Rural Development Fund (HRDF), Rs 20 crore for the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar, and Rs 2 crore for the development of Radaur
town.
Mr. Hooda also announced that a weight lifting academy would be set up in the Sports Stadium at Barsan. Besides, sport stadia would be constructed in the village where land would be made available by the village panchayat. PHCs, CHCs and schools would be upgraded provided these fulfilled the prescribed parameters. The banks of Yamuna would be further strengthened to avoid any flood-like situation in the district. Besides, tubewells would be dug as per requirement.
The Chief Minisrter also disclosed that second phase of the Dadupur Nalwi Canal would be completed by December, 2013 which would facilitate irrigation in over 92,000 hectares of land in the three districts of Yamunanagar, Ambala and Kurukshetra.
Coming down heavily on INLD-BJP alliance government, Mr Hooda said that during their tenure, only Rs 200 was being given as old age allowance.
Contrary to this, the present Congress government is paying Rs 500 and Rs 750 as old age allowance. Mr. Hooda said if he got a chance, it would be further increased.
“During the INLD rule, they would just grab land but we have implemented the Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basti Yojna to provide free residential plots measuring 100 sq yards to the beneficiaries
belonging to SC, BC-A and BPL. So far, 3.82 lakh beneficiaries have been allotted such plots. Besides, we have also implemented the Priydarshini Awas Yojna (PAY) under which two lakh houses would be
constructed in rural areas for the poor people. A provision of Rs 1,350 crore has been made in the budget for the purpose this year”, Mr Hooda added.
Mr Hooda said that the present state government is pro-farmer and various decisions have been taken for the welfare of the farming community in the state. “During the INLD-BJP rule, the price of popler was Rs 150 per quintal whereas we are giving Rs 1250 per quintal to the farmers”, he said, adding that Haryana is the first state where the highest wages are given under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA)
While thanking the UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, and the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, for implementing the Food Security Ordinance, Mr Hooda said that 1.26 crore people in the state would benefit from the scheme. The state government has also implemented the 'Dal Roti Scheme' under which 12.84 lakh BPL families would get 2.5 kg pulses per month at the rate of Rs. 20 per kg.
Speaking on the occasion, AICC secretary and in-charge , Haryana affairs, Ms Asha Kumari, described Haryana as a 'model of development' and said the future of Haryana was quite safe in the hands of Congress party and Mr Hooda. She was all praised for Mr. Hooda, saying that the state government had set new benchmarks in the field of development and ranks number one in many spheres.
