The Haryana Government has decided to extend the benefit
of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana to rickshaw pullers, rag pickers, mine
workers, sanitation workers and auto rickshaw and taxi drivers in the
state.
While stating this here today, a
spokesman of HealthDepartment said that this decision would cover 2.16 lakh
additional beneficiaries. He said that the estimated financial
implication would be Rs. 5.80 crore during the current financial year
out of which 25 per cent amount that is Rs.1.45 crore would be borne by
the State Government.
Till now street vendors, beedi workers, domestic workers, building and other construction workers and MGNREGA workers are covered under the scheme.

He said that the total number of rickshaw
pullers benefiting from the decision is estimated at 27 thousand, Rag Pickers
about 23 thousand, mine workers about 27 thousand, sanitation workers about 22
thousand. Apart from this, about 72 thousand auto rickshaw drivers and taxi
drivers would be benefitted by the decision, he added.
