Haryana Health Foundation to be set up

Haryana Health Foundation, a Centre of Excellence for Communication at State Institute of Health and Family Welfare and a Centralized Call Centre for Referral transport would be set up in Haryana. Also, National Rural Health Mission and launch of National Urban Health Mission would be named as National Health Mission.
          These decisions have been taken in the meeting of National Rural Health Mission held today under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Secretary P.K. Chaudhery.
          He said that the main objective of Haryana Health Foundation would be to receive donations from individuals, corporate, societies, trusts, central and State government, autonomous body, WHO and foreign bodies registered under FCRA, Union and State Government to undertake construction and operation of health facilities in Haryana.
          He said that the activities included by the companies in their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policies are eradicating extreme hunger and poverty, promotion of education, promoting gender equality and women empowerment, reducing child mortality and improving maternal health and combating human immunodeficiency syndrome, Malaria and other disease. As per the latest amendment in the Companies Act, Corporate with Rs thousand crore turnover or Rs 500 crore net worth or profit of Rs 50 crore would have to spend two per cent of their profits on CSR.
          The Chief Secretary said that Haryana Health Foundation would be headed by the Chief Minister with Minister of Finance and Health, Principal Secretaries of Health, Medical Health, Education, Town and Country Planning, Food and Supplies, Excise and Taxation, Public Works (Building and Roads), School Education and representatives of companies and private persons contributing Rs 50 lakh would be its members. Managing Director of National Health Mission would be its member secretary, he added.
            He said that Haryana Health Foundation would purchase, distribute, assemble, install, maintain or otherwise deal in all types of capital equipments and instruments required in medical colleges and hospitals including Community Health Centers, Primary Health Centers and Sub-Centers. It would also establish research and development centers and institutes for medical and para-medical personnel for imparting training in various techno-managerial fields and for monitoring and evaluation various health schemes, it would run or donate ambulances for referral transport 102 of Haryana Health Department and Publicity Vans and it would make public aware about various programmes and activities of Haryana Health through print and electronic media or publicity vans.
          He said that Haryana Health Foundation would setup Centre for Excellence for Behavior Change Communication Activities (BCC) activities pertaining to Health Schemes in the State, would undertake any activity which would strengthen health facilities in Haryana both Clinical and Outreach and would strengthen the Health Infrastructure and services in the districts namely Jind, Hisar, Mewat, Palwal, Panipat, Narnaul and Bhiwani with more resources to fill the existing gap.
          Mr. P.K. Choudhury said that the centre of excellence for communication would be setup with the help of technical assistance from Improving Health Behaviour Programmes. BCC division would be strengthened to form this centre in terms of Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building.
