Chief Justice of
Punjab and Haryana High Court Mr. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul said that on
November 23, 2013, National Lok Adalat would be organized in Punjab, Haryana
and Chandigarh.
He said this while presiding over a meeting with the Senior Officers Punjab,
Haryana and Union Territory, Chandigarh here today. He directed them to issue
instructions to all the officers in the field to identify maximum number of
cases for disposal by way of settlement in the National Lok Adalat. It would
enable the people to get rid of their disputes and prepare a state policy for
the settlement of maximum number of state cases pending in the various courts
of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, he added.
He said that the National Lok Adalat would be organized by State Legal Services
Authorities of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and Punjab and Haryana High Court
Legal Services Committee.
Speaking in the meeting Haryana Chief Secretary Mr. P. K. Choudhary said that
Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments have been directed to nominate
Nodal Officers for identification of maximum number of cases to be disposed in
the National Lok Adalat. He said that the process of disposal of cases would be
started in Haryana on October
2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Justice Jasbir Singh, Judge, Punjab and
Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab Legal Services Authority, Mr.
Justice Satish Kumar Mittal, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive
Chairman, Haryana State Legal Services Authority, Mr. Justice Hemant Gupta,
Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court-cum-Chairman, U.T. legal Services
Authority and Mr. Justice S.S.Saron, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and
Chairman of High Court Legal Services Committee.
