The Haryana Government is
preparing a policy to engage retired teachers on the vacancies caused by
long term leaves such as maternity and child care leave taken by teachers
of government schools
in Haryana.
Haryana Education Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said this while replying to a question of Sampat Singh MLA during the first day of monsoon session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. She said that the government is also considering to make a new policy for making a pool of private teachers, so that the study of the students is not affected due to the absence of teachers.
Giving clarification about bad result of students of class 10th in government schools, she said that with the implementation of Right to Education Act, the board exams for class 8th have been
discontinued. On the basis of constant evaluation system, the students are passed to next classes instead of failing them. She said that not only Haryana, but the entire country is reflecting on this issue.
She said that during the year 2013, the result of class 10th of government schools was 40.93 percent as against 61.19 percent of private schools. She said that the cases of reappear in one or two
subjects in government schools were 34.48 percent which is likely to improve in coming times. During the period of 2001 to 2005, the condition of result of class 10th of government schools was very
critical.
She said that 4018 students have been admitted in Aarohi Model schools setup in 36 educationally backward blocks of the districts. In this schools 431 post of Principals, TGTs and Librarians
have been filled. As many as 2219 schools have been upgraded in the state and under Mid-Day Meal Scheme, 16 types of nutritious dishes are served to the students studying in government schools across the state. Also, a helpline has been started. Under rationalization, adjustment of the teachers is being done as per need. Recruitment process of about 24 to 25 thousand teachers is under progress and the
matter is under consideration of the court, she added.
