CHANDIGARH, March 14
A five-member
delegation of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC)
held a meeting with Mr Justice H.S.Bhalla, Member, Haryana Human Rights
Commission and other officers of the Commission, here today.
The delegation of
the Afghanistan was headed by Mrs. Nafisa Nezam Operations Manager,
AIHRC, headquarters and accompanied by Mr A.K.Prashar, Joint Registrar,
Law, National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi.
The AIHRC
delegation was apprised about the aims and objectives
of the Commission that is to protect and safeguard the
interests of the general public provided under the
Constitution of India as well as the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993).
The delegation of
the AIHRC informed about its Constitution which has been constituted in
Hague Conference in 2002. The delegation also apprised that there are
nine separate units of the Commission which are dealing with separate areas
headed by different Commissioners or Members. The funds to the Commission
are being provided by the international community.
Mrs. Nafisa
Nezam, Head of the delegation invited the officers of the Haryana Human
Rights Commission to Afghanistan for further interaction.
