CHANDIGARH, MARCH 5
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda
today made it clear that Maruti Udyog Limited is not shifting from Haryana. The
Chief Minister was speaking on the issue concerning shifting of Maruti Udyog
Limited raised by BJP MLA Mr Krishan Pal Gurjar in the ongoing session of
Vidhan Sabha here today.
Mr Hooda said that it was totally baseless and incorrect that Maruti is
shifting from Haryana. He said that Maruti Udyog Limited had already purchased
land in Gujarat even before the incident of violence at its plant at Manesar in
district Gurgaon.
Referring to the same issue, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr Randeep Singh
Surjewala said that Maruti was setting up its A and B units within the complex
of Manesar plant. Apart from this, a Research and Development unit was being
set up by Maruti Udyog Limited at IMT, Rohtak. He said that Maruti has also set
up a Motorcycle Manufacturing Unit in Haryana. He made it clear that any industrial
unit could open a new unit as a part of its expansion as it is its right, but
Maruti is not shifting from Haryana.
He said that while ignoring the interests of the farming community, the Gujarat
Government has given land at a rate ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 200 per square
yard to set up the plant of Tata’s Nano. Also, the Gujarat Government has given
an interest free loan of Rs 3000 crore to Tata’s Nano Company to set up the
unit.
Mr Surjewala informed the House that the Haryana Government would not let the
interests of the farmers adversely affected and would promote industrial
development while safeguarding the interests of the farmers.
