CHANDIGARH, MARCH
15
All treasury
offices in Haryana will soon be developed as Cyber Treasuries, their entire
system would be made online and treasury offices will be made paperless so as
to further enhance their efficiency and facilitate the people.
This was stated
by Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal after inaugurating the first
‘model treasury’ of Haryana here today.
Mr. Kaushal
said that Haryana is the first state in the country where electronic payment
system has been implemented in treasury operation. He said that in future, the online
budget system would be improved in coordination with all the departments in the
state.
He said that it
would be the endeavour of Haryana Finance Department to make the Treasuries not
only paperless, but also presenceless as efforts would be made to facilitate
the people in getting their work done while being at home and no one need to
visit them for various works. While describing it as a big challenge, he hoped
that it would be achieved within a year. Online system would also help in taking
precise and correct decisions while preparing policies and there would be least
chance of committing mistakes. He said after being online, undoubtedly
the working of the department would be in back-end but the work load of
the department would increase and the efficiency too would enhance.
He said that
the model treasury inaugurated today is air-conditioned and is equipped with
public-friendly facilities, where separate pension counter has been set up for
retired employees and other counters to accept bills of different departments.
Apart from this, the officers in the treasury have separate counters. He said
that with a view to enhance the accountability of the officials, CCTV cameras
have been installed.
Those present
on this occasion included Director Finance Department Mr. Harinder Kumar, Joint
Director Mr. S.K. Sharma and other officers of Haryana Treasury.
