CHANDIGARH, MARCH 25
Haryana Roadways buses will have Global Positioning System (GPS) and
LED based Electronic Destination Board displaying the destination
stations including stoppages en route
for the convenience and safety of the passengers travelling in these buses.
While announcing this
today, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who also holds the
portfolio of Transport, said that
a decision to install the GPS in
State Roadways buses has been taken to ensure safety of the
passengers, crew and the vehicle. However, in the first phase, GPS would be
installed in the buses of Gurgaon and Rewari Depots. After successful implementation of the GPS in these depots, it
would be implemented in other depots of Haryana Roadways.
Mr Hooda said that all
new buses being fabricated by
the Haryana Roadways Engineering Corporation would have the
electronic destination boards. Thereafter, such boards would be provided in all
the 4000 buses of the fleet, he added.
