Haryana to train 16.75 lakh youth under 12th 5-Year Plan

 Haryana Government has fixed a target to impart industrial training to 16.75 lakh youth under 12th five year plan in the state.

            While stating this here today, Haryana Industrial Training Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that about two lakh unskilled or unemployed youth would be trained through the short term or Modular Employable courses under Skill Development Initiative scheme based on Modular Employable Skills of Government of India during the 12th Five Year Plan through a network of Government and Private institutes registered as Vocational Training Providers. She said that department intends to increase the present training capacity significantly by increasing the number of Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) as well as private ITIs and also by increasing the intake capacity of the existing institutes. She said that government had earmarked a sum of Rs.200 crore for skill development in the budget allocation for year 2013-14.

            Mrs. Bhukkal said that Department of Industrial Training is imparting quality skill based training to the unemployed youth through a network of 131 Government ITIs and 94 Private ITIs under the Craftsman Training Scheme. There were 39168 sanctioned seats in 2505 trade units including Centres of Excellence in Government ITIs and 14416 seats in 908 trade units in private ITIs during current financial year. Apart from this, new trades were being introduced as per the demand of the industry and the market, she added.

The Minister said that the setting up of 18 new Government ITIs is under active consideration. The proposal to open seven new Government ITIs in Mewat region including four for women is under consideration. These would be set up at Punhana, Pinangwa, Taoru and for women at Punhana, Ferozepur Jhirka, Ujjina and Pinangwa. Besides, expansion of three Government ITIs at Ujjina, Nagina  and Ferozepur Jhirka with the financial assistance of Rs. 100 crore allocated under 13th Finance Commission recommendation is in progress. She said that there is also a proposal to open an Institute for Training of Trainers at Rohtak and Advanced Training Institute at Jhajjar.

 She said that it is also proposed to open 25 new Government ITIs and 85 Skill Development Centres in public private partnership mode in un-serviced blocks under Skill Development Mission Scheme of Government of India. With the motive to improve the quality of training, the infrastructure is being upgraded for 16 Government ITIs under Vocational Training Improvement Project. She said that 52 Government ITIs were also being upgraded under Upgradation of Government ITIs Scheme under PPP mode of Government of India. In addition to this, latest machines and equipments of modern technology are being procured for remaining ITIs in the state.
