‘Lok Shiksha
Kendras’ would be inaugurated in all the 334 gram panchayats in district Sirsa
of Haryana on March 29 and all these kendras would start functioning
from the same day.
While
stating this today, an official spokesman said that Administrative Officers
alongwith Chairmen of Block Samitis, Sarpanches of villages, Principals and
Head Masters of schools would be Chief Guest in the inaugural ceremony of these
kendras. A district level function would be held in village Begu where Deputy
Commissioner would inaugurate the Lok Shiksha Kendra.
He
said that Lok Shiksha Kendras have been set up in all government buildings of
villages of the district including Panchayat Bhawan, Anganwari Centre, Patwar
Bhawan, Community Centre, Bharat Nirman Rajiv Gandhi Soochna Kendra under
Sakshar Bharat Mission. As many as 668 facilitators including both men and
women have already been appointed to work in these Kendras. Voluntary
teachers for these Kendras are being identified to teach the illiterate
people. The facilitators would also inspire the illiterate people of the
concerned village towards education and bring them to these kendras where they
would be provided with practical knowledge alongwith theoretical knowledge.
He
said that a survey was conducted to identify illiterate people between the age
group of 18 and 80 years in 292 villages of the district under the
Sakshar Bharat Mission. As many as 1,38,366 persons including both men and
women were found illiterate in this survey. He said that classes of eight to
ten illiterate persons would be conducted in Lok Shiksha Kendras in villages
and they would be provided 300 hours training that is one hour of study every
day. After completion of this period, a test would be organized which would be
as per norms of National Open School. Those who would get through, would be
issued a certificate for having passed Class III . He said that reading and
learning material namely ‘Sanjhi Pehel’ has already reached these Kendras
and it would be distributed free of cost in the classes.
