Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar will organise two-day
Krishi Mela on March 13 and 14.
While
stating this today, Director Extension Education and Convener of the Mela, Dr.
J. S. Dhankhar said that different committees have been constituted to make
arrangements for the success of the mela.
The Mela is
organized every year and is a much cherished event for the farmers as
thousands of farmers from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and other
adjoining states participate in the Mela, he added.
Dr.
Dhankhar, said that an agro-industrial exhibition would
be put up on this occasion where technologies of crop protection, crop
production, horticulture, vegetable crops, agriculture engineering, veterinary
science, home science and basic science would be displayed by the university
departments, Government and Semi Government Departments. Besides, private
organizations dealing with insecticides, pesticides, fertilizers, farm
machinery and nursery would also participate and showcase technologies of
utilitarian value to the farmers. He said a scientist-farmers meet
would also be held on both days to give an opportunity to participating
farmers, farm women and youths to have face-to-face interactions with the
university scientists and seek solutions to various farm, animal and home
related problems.
He said a seed
sale counter would be set up at the Mela venue to facilitate farmers to
purchase seed of improved varieties of kharif crops, vegetables and nursery of
fruit trees. Besides, guided visits of the farmers to the experimental or
demonstration sites on Research Farm of the university would be conducted to
show them the latest varieties and techniques pertaining to kharif crops,
medicinal plants, farm forestry, fruits and vegetables. He said soil, water and
diseased plant testing facility would also be available to the farmers at Mela
site.
