Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing
Federation Ltd. (HAFED) has modernized the rice mill at Taraori at a cost of
about Rs three crore to meet the demand of rice in national
and international markets. Also, a flour mill costing Rs two crore has been set
up in Taraori.
While
stating this today, a spokesman of HAFED said that the State Government has
declared HAFED as a nodal agency for construction of godown of about 36.53 lakh
metric tonnes capacity in the State under Private Entrepreneurs Godown Scheme
(PEG-2008) of the Central Government. The construction work of godown of
capacity of about 22.05 lakh metric tonnes would be completed by March 31 next.
He
said that godowns of a total capacity of 4.5 lakh metric tonnes are
being set up in the State. He said that 3.33 lakh metric tonnes capacity
godowns costing Rs 73.26 crore have been set up in the State between March 2005
and March 2013. HAFED’s budget used to be of merely Rs 64.36 crore
from the year 2004-05 to March 2013 which has now been increased to Rs
484.38 crore in the financial year 2013-14. HAFED has spent a total of Rs
866.85 crore from March 2005 and March 2013, he added.
He
said that a new alternative has been provided on experimental basis to the
farmers at Rewari and Narnaul to sell their mustard seed through Electronic
Commodity Spot Exchange through which they can get information about the
prevailing market price across the country. It is a buyer-seller transparent
system.
He
said that HAFED has initiated and promoted the use of information technology.
For this, a framework of Information Technology Vision for next five years is
being prepared. The oil mills of HAFED, rice mill Taraori, animal feed plant
and sugar mill Asandh have received ISO 22000:2005 certification which is the
latest as per the ISO standards of Food Safety Management System. He said that
the process of obtaining ISO 9001:2008 certification for Quality Management
System Certification has been initiated in all offices of HAFED.
