Sugarmills in Haryana have sofar crushed 288.18 lakh quintals of
sugarcane during the current season and produced 26.80 lakh quintals of sugar
and recorded a sugar recovery of 9.38 per cent.
While stating this today, Chairman of the Haryana State
Federation of Cooperative Sugarmills, Mr Ajay Sharma said that as compared to
it, during corresponding period last year, 307.86 lakh quintals of sugarcane
was crushed, 26.53 lakh quintals of sugar produced and sugar recovery of 8.71
per cent was achieved.
Mr Sharma said that an Intensive Cane Development Plan
has been prepared for the next season that is 2013-14 and a provision of Rs
37.71 crore has been made for cane development during the year.
He said that the Government has approved the proposal to
set up a 15 MW Cogeneration Project and Distillery Plant under public private
partnership mode at Sugar mill Palwal. The Government has also approved the
proposal of expansion and modernization of Panipat sugarmill. He said that
there is also a plan to set up a 15 MW cogeneration unit.
