Haryana plans to rejuvenate Saraswati river

By Haryananewswire
CHANDIGARH,  APRIL 1
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced that the sacred Saraswati river passing through Pehowa would be rejuvenated and   fresh water would start flowing in it from this year so that the pilgrims could take  dip in this sacred river also as they take bath in sacred tanks in Kurukshetra.
Mr. Hooda was addressing a largely attended Vikas Rally in Pehowa today.
Mr. Hooda said that the area of Kurukshetra had always been neglected. Quoting the official statistics, Mr. Hooda said that during the six year tenure of INLD-BJP Government from the year 1999-2005, they had spent only Rs. 459.54 cores on development of district Kurukshetra whereas the Present Congress Government in the State had so far spent Rs. 2113.57 crore. Similarly, they had spent only Rs. 100.62 crore on Pehowa assembly constituency whereas the present State Government had spent Rs. 481.56 crore on various development works in Pehowa assembly constituency. Apart from this, various development projects worth crores of rupees were in progress.  There were four parameters to assess the development of any State and these are per capita investment, per capita income, per capita expenditure in Plan  Budget and resource mobilization. It was a matter of pride that Haryana is number one in all such parameters, he added.
Coming down heavily on the main opposition party in the State, INLD for always neglecting the interests of the common man, Mr. Hooda questioned the people saying if anyone could tell him any single step which they had taken for their welfare. The State Government is providing monthly scholarships ranging from Rs, 75 to Rs. 400 to   19.70 lakh students of class one to twelfth. Haryana is the first State in the country to have such a scheme. Similarly, old age allowance of Rs. 550 and Rs. 700 was being provided to the eligible beneficiaries whereas  during the INLD-BJP government it was merely Rs. 200. Apart from this, rate of interest on short term crop loan has been reduced from 11 per cent to 4 per cent.
While criticizing the INLD for spreading false propaganda  in the JBT teacher recruitment scam, Mr Hooda said that today they were accusing him and CBI for falsely implicating the INLD leaders in the case. Mr. Hooda said that today they were propagating that the INLD leaders have been sentenced for giving jobs to the youths. He said, “ We are also providing jobs to the youths and would continue to do so, but they have been convicted because they have made those candidates to join who were not selected”. The Chief Minister said that in the year 2003, when Supreme Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the issue, Mr. Om Prakash Chautala was the Chief Minister of the State and Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Prime Minister. When FIR was registered against the INLD leaders in the year 2004, at that time also, Om Prakash Chautala was the Chief Minister and BJP supported by INLD was in power at the Center. He said that  he became the Chief Minister of the State on March 5, 2005,  therefore, how CBI and he could be blamed for this, Mr. Hooda questioned. He said that they were suffering due their own misdeeds.
Taking a dig at opposition, Mr. Hooda said that  time and again the opposition leaders had challenged him to debate anywhere on the issue but they themselves refrain from having a debate in Vidhan Sabha which is an appropriate platform to discuss such issues. He suggested that instead of asking him to debate, they should hire a good advocate to plead their case in the court of law. “Neither I intended to do so nor I have time for such issues”, said Mr. Hooda adding that he is dedicated to ensure overall development of the State and to serve the people.
Mr. Hooda said that he hailed from the family of freedom fighters who had dreamt that everybody get clothe to wear, enough food to eat and have roof. To realize their dream, the State Government has recently started a new scheme namely Priyadarshini Awas Yojna under which two lakh  houses would be constructed for the poor people in rural areas and 1.50 lakh in urban areas.
Mr. Hooda said that when Haryana was carved out as a separate State in the year 1966, it   lagged behind in almost every field. But when he held the reins of the present Congress Government in the State in the year 2005, he  framed separate polices for all sections of society be it the farmers, employees, traders or the poor so that each section of the society could be benefitted and Haryana could become   prosperous. He said that uniform development has been ensured in the State at an accelerated pace and those who were blaming of disparity in the development should wipe their spectacles and see the ground reality.
Mr. Hooda also announced that the classes in the Government College, Bheriyan, Pehowa would commence from the ensuing academic session. He also announced Rs. 15 crore under Haryana Rural Development Fund (HRDF) for villages of Pehowa Assembly constituency and Rs five crore for the beautification of Pehowa city. Mr Hooda also announced to give Rs. one crore for the development of Bheriyan village as the villagers had provided land for the Government College college, which he also inaugurated  today.
Visibly elated at the massive gathering, Mr. Hooda accepted the demands of the area put forward by Finance Minister Mr. Harmohinder Singh Chattha. Mr. Hooda announced to get installed 2x10 MVA capacity transformer at Gumthala Sub Station in place of 8 MV transformer at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crore, upgradation of schools provided that they fulfill the prescribed norms and completion of eight new roads in Pehowa assembly constituency.
MP Naveen Jindal said that those within the party who talked about discrimination in development works were concerned only with their own development. But the people of the State were aware that unprecedented development has been taken place in all areas of the State during the last eight years of the present State Government. He expressed his gratitude to Mr. Hooda for announcing construction of Akshardham Temple in Kurukshetra and said that that this would further increase the religious importance of this holy place.
Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Mr. Phool Chand Mullana, Members of Parliament    Dr. Ram Prakash and  Mr. Naveen Jindal, Finance Minister Mr. Harmohinder Singh Chattha, Chairman, Haryana Bureau of Public Enterprises Mr. Anil Dhantodi, former Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Dillu Ram Bajigar, Member Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Mr. Mandeep Chattha and Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof.  Virender Singh also spoke on the occasion.
