Haryana conserving and promoting Punjabi language

Punjabi Language is being fully conserved in Haryana and students of the State are getting good marks in exams of Punjabi language.
          This was stated by Director General Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs, Haryana, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal at a function organized by the Punjabi Sahitya Academy to give away prizes for best stories and honour those students who got merit in Punjabi in examinations conducted by Haryana Board of School Education in Panchkula near here today.
          Mr. Rajpal said that the State Government is making every possible effort to promote Punjabi language and Punjabi teachers are being recruited from time to time as per the need. He said that the State Government has declared  Punjabi as second language. He advised the students to get good marks in other subjects too as it is necessary to have knowledge of all languages in the present scenario.
          He said that apart from having apart from Punjabi Sahitya Academy, the State Government has also set up Punjabi Cell where all the  proposals received are dealt   on priority basis in Punjabi language. He said that we should move forward with all languages so as to further enrich our culture. He said that apart from Haryana Sahitya Akademi, other Academies like   Punjabi Sahitya Academy, Urdu Academy, Granth Academy   and Sanskrit Academy have been set up in Haryana.
          Speaking on the occasion, Director of the Akademi, Dr. Sukhchain Singh Bhandari said that ever since Punjabi language has got status of second language in Haryana under the leadership of Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Punjabis residing in Haryana are propagating this language to far off places through their compositions. He said that as Director, he had organized 76 conventions through the medium of Academy in the country out of which 48 conventions were organized in Haryana. He said that Mr. Hooda has, on demand of the Academy, directed to install name plates in Punjabi language too at Haryana Civil Secretariat.
          On this occasion, Mr. Rajpal honoured students scoring 92 per cent or more marks in examination of class VIII conducted by Haryana Board of School Education . They are namely Navdeep Kaur, Seema Rani, Kusum Devi and Nirmal. He also honoured Rahul Kumar of Kaithal who scored cent per cent marks and Rajat Chawla, Ankit Kumar, Manwinder Kaur, Reena Rani for scoring 92 per cent or more marks in board examination of class X. Similarly, Nirmal Kaur, Veepal Kaur, Jaspreet Kaur, Vijay Pratap, Suman Rani and Gurpreet Kaur were  honoured for scoring 92 per cent or more marks in Haryana Board of School Education examination of class XII.
          Under Punjabi Story Competition, Mr. Surinder Singh Oberoi of Faridabad was  awarded   first prize of Rs 2500 for his story ‘Madari’ whereas Ms. Jagir Kaur Sandhu of Elenabad was awarded with second prize of Rs 1500 for her story ‘Pathar Cho Khidade Phool’ and third prize of Rs 1000 was given away to Mr. Iqbal Singh of Fatehabad for his story ‘Manukhta Aje Mari Nai’. They were also honoured with certificates and mementos alongwith cash prizes. Similarly,   consolation prizes of Rs 500 each were awarded to Mr. Harnam Singh of Fatehabad for his story ‘Jaap Te Janu’, Dr. Indu Gupta of Faridabad for ‘Kaleja Apna Nai Bechana’, Mr. Lakhwinder Singh Bajwa of Rania for ‘Manuka’, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Saini of Hisar for ‘Dhoan Ghar Ke Bhag’, Mr. Raghuvir Singh Ishar of Kurukshetra for ‘Najare’ and Mr. Puran Singh Nirala of Elenabad for ‘Joge Di Beans’.
          Director, Sanskrit Sahitya Academy, Mr. Shyam Sakha Sunder, Director, Urdu Sahitya Academy, Mr. Desh Raj Sapra and Director, Granth Akademi, Dr. Mukta were also present on this occasion.
