CHANDIGARH, APRIL 12
A sum of Rs.369
crore has been approved for five districts of Haryana namely Bhiwani,
Panchkula, Mewat, Jhajjar and Hisar under 13th Finance Commission during
the year 2012-13 for the implementation of the schemes of Public Health and
Engineering Department.
While
stating this here today, Haryana Public Health Engineering Minister, Mrs. Kiran
Choudhry said that out of total, a sum of Rs.183 crore had been approved for
Jhajjar town and adjoining 17 villages, Rs.112 crore for district Hisar,
Rs.6.02 crore for Morni area in district Panchkula, Rs.37 crore for district
Bhiwani and Rs.30.76 crore for distrit Mewat under 13th Finance
Commission.
Mrs. Choudhry said that National River Conservation Directorate had also
approved two projects costing Rs.129.51 crore and Rs.88.36 crore for
augmentation of sewerage system including Sewerage Treatment Plant in Panipat
and Sonipat towan on funding pattern of 70:30 during the same period. Apart
from this, projects costing Rs.95 crore for improvement of water supply in
Sonipat town on Ranney wells had also been approved Urban Infrastructure
Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) scheme. These works
would be completed by March 2015, she added.
The Minister informed that another project costing Rs.93.10 crore for districts
Mahendergarh covering 54 villages had also been approved by the Project
Sanctioning Committee of NABARD. Similarly, a project costing Rs.21.72 crore
for providing storm water drainage in Sonipat Town had been approved by
National Capital Region Planning Board. She said that apart from augmentation
of drinking water supply facilities in 788 habitations, 904 balance schools had
been provided with drinking water facilities. In addition, 588 anganwadis had
also been covered.
Mrs. Choudhry said that during year 2012-13, as many as 1122 tubewell based
schemes had been handed over to Gram Panchayats for operation and maintenance.
Under Haryana State Rural Water Policy, individual household’s metered
connections would be given to 50 per cent rural population by the end of the 12th Five
Year Plan. She said that in order to redress public complaints and ensuring
transparency, Shikayat Nivaran Kendra had been set up with toll free number
1800-1805678. Also, Water conservation award has been introduced for those
village panchayats who would ensure taps on all private and public connections
and minimum of 75 per cent households have private water connections in the
village. Under this, 497 gram panchayats were rewarded during year 2012-13,
added Mrs. Choudhry.
