State for Power Jyotiraditya M. Scindia
said that with a view to ensure adequate supply of electricity to Haryana, new
power lines of 6000 MW capacity would be laid between Champa in Chhattisgarh to
Kurukshetra at a cost of Rs.3500 crore. Also, new power
projects costing Rs.22,000 crore are being set up in
Haryana.
Accompanied by Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda,
Mr. Scindia was addressing a function after dedicating 2630 MVA 765/400/220 KV
sub station set up by Power Grid Corporation of India at village Dhana Narsan
in district Bhiwani today.
Mr. Scindia said that Haryana would be among the most developed states in the
country hence it is essential that agriculture, industry and domestic sectors
in the state get adequate power supply. He said that a target to
generate 55000 MW electricity was set in 11th Five Year Plan
which has been increased to 88,000 MW in 12th Five Year Plan.
He said that a target to produce 17,500 MW electricity was fixed during last
year and it is a matter of pride that we had increased the generation capacity
by 20,300 MW in one year.
Mr. Scindia said that UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime
Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh are committed to provide electricity to every
house in the country. He said that this 2630 MW substation would be linked to
Jaipur in Rajasthan and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. Power would also be supplied
here from Hydel power projects of Moga in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu.
This power transmission centre set up at a cost of over Rs.2500 crore would
provide adequate electricity to farmers and industries in Bhiwani. Also, it
would permanently resolve the problem of power distribution. Referring to his
family relations with families of Ch. Bansi Lal and Chief Minister Mr.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he said that Haryana and Maharashtra are only two states
that have old relations with Scindia family.
Speaking on this occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that
total generation capacity of Haryana in the year 2005 was only 1587 MW
which has been increased to 5800 MW with the setting up of new power projects
and support of Union Power Ministry. The State government had set up new power
plants at Yamunanagar, Jharli, Khanpur and Khedar. The government had also
implemented a new policy to ensure adequate power supply in rural areas as per
which 20-22 hours electricity on the pattern of cities would be given to those
villages where line losses were reduced to less than 25 per cent. The residents
of district Bhiwani had availed maximum benefit of electricity bill waiver
scheme, he added.
Mr. Hooda said that Mr. Scindia has always given priority to Haryana in power
projects. The new 500 MW commercial operation has set up at Jharli with his
support. Electricity would be supplied here in this transmission centre from
Jharli power plant. New station of the power grid would be connected to
Narwana, Jind and power house Khedar. This substation is technically ranked
second in the world and it would provide adequate power supply in the district.
Member of Parliament Ms. Shruti Choudhry said that it was her grandfather Ch.
Bansi Lal who initially had provided electricity in every village. Now Chief
Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda is setting up power plants in the state
which is commendable.
Public Health Engineering Minister, Mrs. Kiran Choudhry said that availability
of drinking water and power are two important aspects of development. It is a
matter of pride that Chief Minister had undertaken several initiatives to
ensure adequate power supply. Today, waterworks, tubewell and boosting stations
had been set up in every village of district Bhiwani to ensure water supply to
people. The new sub station would ensure regular power supply to all villages
in the area, she added.
Bhiwani MLA, Mr. Ghanshyam Das Saraaf thanked Union Minister, Mr. Jyotiraditya
M. Scindia and Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda for dedicating
power transmission centre at village Dhana Narsan in Bhiwani.

Sangwan, Power Minister, Delhi Mr. Haarun Yusuf, Additional Secretary, Union
Power Ministry Mr. Ashok Lavasa, Joint Secretary Ms. Rita Aacharya, Political
Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender Singh, former Speaker Mr. Chatar Singh
Chauhan, former MLAs Mr. Ranvir Mahendra, Somvir Singh, Maj. Narpender Sangwan
and officers of Power grid Corporation.
