The Aircel-Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has announced the Haryana Open 2009 presented by HUDA and DLF, which will be played at the Panchkula Golf Club from September 24 to 27 September, 2009. A cash prize of Rs. 30 lakh is a stake.
The second edition of the Haryana Open will feature a strong field with the likes of Mukesh Kumar, Anirban Lahiri, Ashok Kumar, C Muniyappa, Vijay Kumar, Shamim Khan, Harendra Gupta and Harmeet Kahlon, to name a few, teeing it up for top honours at the scenic Panchkula Golf Club.

Commenting on the playing conditions, Brig. I. S. Punia (Retd.), General Manager, Panchkula Golf Club, added, “The course has been specially prepared, after the heavy rains, for the ensuing professional golf tournament.”

Panchkula Golf Club, situated on the Ambala-Panchkula-Kalka-Shimla Highway, and spread over an area of 135 acres is one of the premier championship courses in north India. It is situated at an alluring location on the banks of the river Ghaggar. The backdrop of the Shivalik Hills lends a picturesque view to the course.

96th birthday of Devi Lal celebration

The 96th Birthday of Late Ch. Devi Lal is being celebrated at Jind (Haryana) on September 25. It will be a mammoth rally, likely to be attended by a large number of people from across the State. The timings are 12.15 p.m

Inter-Centre Gymnastics at Ambala

The Haryana Inter-Centre Gymnastic competition (boys) will be organised at Ambala from September 20 to 22. According to a spokesman of the Haryana Sports and Youth
Affairs Department the competitions would be organised in artistic, trampoline, aerobics and acrobatics disciplines.
He said that promising boys below 8, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15 years of age could take part in artistic discipline, whereas boys below 18 years could take part in the competitions. Gymnastic coaches have been advised that they alongwith their teams should report to the District Sports and Youth Affairs Officer, Ambala on September 19.
The spokesman said that it had also been decided to organise district
level gymnastic competitions of boys and girls from September 15 to 16
before State Inter Centre Gymnastic competition. The players taking
parts in the district level competition would be given certificate and
merit certificates.
